Hey guys.

Bought one of those home theatre packages last year with DVD player, 5 satellite speakers and subwoofer. While it goes alright, I am looking to upgrade.

The specs of the speakers are 20w each (x5), and the subwoofer is 50w - or something like that. Anyway, in Harvey Norman, I saw a set of 5 speakers and sub down from $800 to $300 as a stock clearance sale. Their specs are 5 x satellite speakers (80w), 1 x sub woofer (100w).

Now my question is, if I use buy these new speakers will they make any difference to my existing dvd player, seeing as the dvd player is the amplifier which came in the original package?

Cheers

you bought the old speakers in a package which the speakers were 20w , new speakers 80w , good news is the speakers wont blow up or anything , having an amp thats too powerful for the speakers causes that not the other way around but the amp was probably meant for the 20w ones if it came in the package so maybe the sound quality wont be as good i dont know , read the specs on the back of your amp
