Even though rock it didnt win, the fact that our manipulation got up to #2 has encouraged me to hit this market pretty hard next year. I reckon the top 10 and most songs markets are the easiest to take advantage of, so they will be the ones I focus on next year.

I'm pretty happy I put a shitload on magic fountain for top 10, that was never going to miss.

You guys really think you manipulated the outcome? How many votes would you estimate that you accounted for?

Dance the way I feel would have been a clear winner had it been released the 2nd half of the year.

Well it's pretty hard to know considering triple j don't give you the figures but I think the 'punters' influence lifted rock it a few spots. I think there would have been others outside of this forum getting on board too, goven how much it was hammered in. I would have had it at or just outside the top 5 otherwise.

I think that link I posted a couple of pages back is probably pretty accurate in showing how many votes you need to take it out so I never really thought we were in with a chance of rock it winning - I was pretty surprised it made it to top 2.

Re how many votes we did: I made 40+ and I'm sure there were a fair few others around or well over that mark.

pretty sure i heard them mention that ther were something like 150,000 individual voters...

even if each of you created 50 accounts (which im sure you didnt), you guys did **** all...

yeah but of those 150000 votes, you'd probably say that about 1/5 max were for a&j, then less for every other song. Taking that into account, if we managed somewhere near 1000 votes that's a pretty big chunk of the 25-30k IMO.

There were 150k voters not 150k votes.

Think there were over 1 million votes.

edit: '1.26 million votes were recorded from 152 countries, a new record number of votes.'

Given these numbers, I find it hard to believe that punters had much of an influence.

Computer hackers, on the other hand would easily be able to have a significant influence on the vote. Might look into this for next year.

yeah but even though you can vote for 10 songs at a time you can still only vote for each song once. so if everyone that voted in the countdown had big jet plane in their shortlist it would have had 126k votes. in reality nowhere near everyone had it in their shortlist, so its total votes could have been anywhere in the 25-40k range.

if you think about the songs just scraping into the 10, they've probs got closer to 10k votes, if that. thats why i reckon they are the ones to hit next year.
