I dont know anything about computers but I know the one we have is bloody slow and I also know that we dont have the money to splash out on a new one.

So what I want to know how can I increase the speed on my PC without spending any/very little money?

I have only 14 Mgs of RAM is there a way I can buy more Mgs and install them myself? I dont even have towers just one of those flat boxes that the monitor sits on top of.

So come on you guys what do you think?

14 megs of RAM!! you sure you don't mean 16?

Most computers run too slowly because they don't have enough RAM, you can never have too much.

Anyway, it sounds as if your equipment is rather old. You probably won't be able to buy compatable stuff in the shop, unless you pay top dollar. You might be best looking at getting a reasonable 2nd hand PC or maybe go to a swap meet where you can often pick up alot of gear.

Problem is though, you say you don't know much about PC's. Picking up bits and pieces can be difficult if you don't know what you want and what the value of things are.

Perhaps you can let us know what you have. For example, the type and speed of your processor, the model number of your mother board, the type and size of your hard disks. Also what do you want to do with it, surf the web?, write stuff, play games etc.

I know you don't want to spend much money, but seriously it seems that your PC is too old to upgrade...it is worth just buying a new PC. Not the newest one, but an older new one if you get my drift...
