How Far Back Is Too Far

Just wondering after 3 rounds of SC and DT how far back is too far back to think about winning the money. I know I have no real chance as I was about 700 points off first place entering the round but just wondering when would you give it away.

hard to say, in 2005 I had a guy in our league who was sitting about 15000th after rd 3 or 4, then went on a ridiculous run of anywhere between 2100 and 2300 for about 10 rounds (in dreamteam!!) as everything he touched turned to gold and got to 42nd before using all his trades caught up with him, still finished top 200 IIRC.

That was what I was thinking unless you're within a couple of hundred points at this stage it is going to be very hard to get near the top.

yea it was freak, absolutely tore the league to shreds as you can probably imagine, it was just a fluke, moves like nathan brown captain the week he scored 150 (anyone else remember that?).

much like tipping, being behind the 8 ball early makes life very difficult.

Having a look at the leader board and team placings fluctuate wildly week to week. It only takes a few injuries to major players to bring the leaders back to the pack....that's wishful thinking anyway. This is the team of the current leader, i found it interesting to see that he has 2 rookie forwards in his starting lineup and 2 more on the bench. Saved heaps of $$$ there and put it to good use in the midfield with 4 ball magnets plus Rischitelli and Rodan who showed in the pre-season that they had stepped up. Apart from Kosi the backline are all roving half back flankers. Very nice team, and in the memory bank for next year :thumbsu:

he will no stay on top long
people with kenelly are lucky now but he will come back to the field soon
also rookies will not perform that well for him every week and west should be traded for goodwin next week

It's too early to figure out these kinda things.

Most people seem to think that the top teams will make the right trades. It's not often the case.

They've put themselves in a good position, but a lot can go wrong from here.

yeah i am about 600 off first so would be near inpossible to win from here i would say but i think i should move up a bit with much improvment to come

Im really suprissed people think it would be hard to come back from 600 points down, if someone can get 600 points in front in 3 rounds, why is it impossible to make it up in 19 rounds??? I'm about 600 points back, and still conident, sure the people in front look like they have really good teams at the momment but thats cause they have a lot of guys that have performed the best lately. the order of players peforming the best will soon change, along with it the leaders. I read some guy say those outside the top 30 after round 3 have no chance. I think if you have players that you know havent hit their straps yet, and your hanging in there and 600 odd behind like me, you have every chance of winning.

A lot of players have a crap start to the season, and fire in the second half. I think its about setting up now, and after round 11, if you are within around 500 of the leader, your still in with a good shot.

Anyone who is in the top say 15, 000 or so is definately no without hope, and im suprissed wo many people are giving up hope so early. My trades were done on averages, who i thought would have what at THE END OF THE YEAR, not at the end of round 3. Anyway thats my opinion, if you disagree and in why. Cheers.

I agree:thumbsu:. But i'am 8000th, and will be 4 trades down come the end of this week. I think i'll be lucky to finish top 2000th.

I'd say you could still make the top 250 Butane...
I started the year shockingly last year and finished 251st...

Making it into the top 200-500 isn't the hard bit. Once you get into that bracket the majority of people know what they are doing, that's when it gets extremely hard to make up ground.
