I run a competition called the Super League which simulates AFL players redrafted into other sides, and a point system with the Champion Data system, and win loss with other competitors in the league.

Players I have from your side in my Super League are as follows;

Ian Perrie, James Begley, Mark Stevens and Scott Stevens.

How do you think these players will go in 05???

Prepare to be disappointed as you are taking high risk players.

M Stevens & Begley are injury-prone. Though the upside is that Perrie should play if M Stevens is injured. S Stevens will need quite a few injuries to make the side IMO.

absolutely spot on

Perrie's the one to watch, doesn’t have carey to worry about, and is our only genuine key marking forward. The others will probably be gone at the end of the season if they dont have big seasons, so one or two should do ok, trying to save their careers. It should be interesting to see how much game time ladhams gets this is most likely a make or break season for him too.

Begley - good player, injury prone - make or break in 2005,
M Stevens - better than good player, injury prone - m & b in 2005,
S Stevens - Embarrassingly tentative - level of aggression would be more at home in the under 9's,
Perrie - Big in Heart, small in natural ability. At least he can be aggresive.

What did you guys think of the game or two Perrie played a CHB last year. I thought he did exceptionally well in one game before half time.

Scott Stevens did alright a few times, kicking a few goals. Sort of an opportunist in front of goal.

Mark Stevens, I was tempted to drop him, but if he goes through uninjured, it could be a BIG mistake. Seems to be a gun when on the field. Hope it happens.

Expect a big year as a forward (unless injured) from Perrie, Begley looks to have put on some weight as well and will be OK.

Mark Stevens durability is still a huge question mark and Scott Stevens well you surely must be a gambler ;)

I think people are a little harsh on S.Stevens. He definately was not the worst player for the Crows early last yr, yet found himself dropped to the SANFL. After playing initially forward he displayed some solid form for Port in defense at various stages of the year.

The fact of the matter is Bassett is a pretty average player, I think even the most biased Crows fan can see this. Would it be worth a punt putting Rutten to Full-Back, leave McGregor at CHB then Stevens getting the thrid tall, ie play the Mathew Bishop type role.

Perrie - dominated CHB, but so did everyone against the Tigers. Actually probably set him back, as it hid the fact he is not a natural defender ... & meanwhile we were playing our best CHB @ CHF in Perrie's best position. Made no sense at all. Fortunately I think Craig knows this,

S Stevens - is hot & cold. I expect he will get limited games this year.

M Stevens - easily a top-10 player for us BUT needs to be fit.

At the end of the day, I hope you didn't pay too much for these players.

That's a possibility during the season as he does look more comfortable playing in defence. However at this stage I'm yet to be convinced he's in front of Basset.

Having said that I'm a bit of a fan of S Stevens
;)

No all come pretty cheaply.

if true you may learn what its like to be a shirley.doughty fan !!

S Stecens is a good SANFL player - needs 10kgs to be a good AFL player
IMO speed is a greater issue than bulk, because even with an extra 10kgs he doesn't play the gamestyle to take advantage of the extra strength.

Plays a leading game as a FF and struggles pace wise to get to the ball. I would suggest aerobically he may struggle (only supposition) to run players around and play the gamestyle Perrie does.

Perries biggest attributes is strong hands and aerobic fitness.

not very good sorry, those players will be luckyto get more than 12 games between them
