Hugh Greenwood debacle

Never said they didn't 'care', I said they were to some extent open to the possibility of someone else grabbing him; but obviously much preferred to keep him.

Read things closer.
I read it perfectly fine, but again, do you seriously think the club was more open to losing Hugh instead of someone like Oea, Atkins, Murtagh.

This is the biggest list management * up the club has made yet.

Have to say Hugh Greenwood comes out looking pretty average here

Heard a few teams were after him but Greenwood chose North.
Probably to do with the Noble relationship - drafted him at adelaide.
Your list manager needs to get sacked. He was 100% getting picked up by someone else after the delistment.
Has the lyons leaving stench all over it.

He told the Sun's he would do it and stay though. What if North told him to con the Sun's?
It's possible draft tampering.

Is it any surprise, given he did the same thing at the crows. Left for more money/years
He didn't do anything wrong at the Crows. He didn't get the contract length he wanted so he went elsewhere. There is nothing untoward about that.

This situation is different because Greenwood was a willing participant in GC's list management decision and then pulled the rug out from underneath them.

No, not suggesting he did.

Wonder if the suns had more of an understanding that it would play out like this than we think. They were pretty keen on offloading significant salary all trade period

If Greenwood hits the clause to trigger a third season, he’d earn a total of around $1.2 million over the three years. His 2022 contract was worth around $400,000 with the Suns, who couldn’t offer the midfielder a longer deal of that nature.

“Hugh liked what we’re doing here at North and wanted to be part of it. It’s fair to say we were pretty pumped when he told us he was keen to come to Arden St.”

Absolute disaster! Could not have played out any worse. Greenwood leaves a huge hole to our inside mid game, we now lack hardness in the contest and tackling pressure. Words cannot express how pissed off I am right now. Terrible management decision and just as poor on Greenwood for promising he would still be at the Suns and was helping them with their list strategy only to then jump ship. Very poor.

The notice on the Suns page - Craig Cameron - "We sat down and had an open conversation about the offer and what was best for Hugh, his family and the Gold Coast Suns. As a group, the decision was made to support Hugh in his wish to join North Melbourne and extend his playing career"
Sounds like high said to them - I’ve been offered this. I’ll stay if you can match.. we didn’t think it was the best thing for the club.. we give him blessing to go.

shouldn’t have been in this situation.
And it shows the contract we had him on was very favourable for us.

This is a small positive. Davies, Hollands still to come in. Maybe Finn

No promises to Hugh he even had a best 2022 spot by end of season

But still. **** we look stupid
Come on mate...Greenwood not best 22 on the sun's list by the end of next season? You must be joking or expecting unrealistic improvement from your list. Clearly one of your better players.

North said they only spoke to him once he got delisted which was a shock to everyone.
Believe what you will about the situation though, if not North it would have been someone else.

Lol GC delisted Greenwood with the hopes he wouldn't be contacted by other clubs and he could be recontracted in the draft.
What a joke.
