IMO showing humility after winning is not diificult, because you are naturally in a happy mood. Whilst still smiling and glowing inside, you just need to think of kind words to console the loser.

But being gracious in defeat is much harder to do, because you are still bitter and hurt about the lost. Unlike Geelong supporters after losing the 2008 grand final to Hawthorn, I believe that Saints supporters have been very gracious in defeat. Not once have I seen saints supporters trolling the Geelong and sook about the lost, and for that you have my respect.

But every team has a few ******** supporters, but it seems the Dogs have them in spades at the moment. Absolute w***ers.

Exactly.
I haven't found the cats supporters so bad, its the supporters of sides that didn't make it that have been the worst

Ignore the supporters of teams that didn't make the finals or bombed out in week one (Carlton, I'm looking at you).

When your pain of not going all the way subsides you'll realise how many amazing experiences you went through this year. Record number of wins, first prelim win in 12 years, All Australians, career best form for many players... while it sucks not going all the way there are still many many highlights your club gave you this year and you certainly shouldn't want to swap that for being a Carlton or Richmond supporter.

to me this year was like 08 - the better team lost by not kicking straight and giving the other team a sniff of a chance that they grabbed.

This saints line up is awesome and should be hot favourites for next years flag. All the best, we know what the pain is like but you will get to know what it's like to break the drought soon !

Gotta say I was getting all worked up reading the main boards and all the comments being made about Saints, but coming here has calmed me down reading all the posts from the genuine Cats supporters. Thanks guys.
I think most Saints supporters have been pretty good, but I have read a few idiotic St Kilda supporter posts on the main board and I think it's important to try and not associate ourselves with these idiots (as with all other teams supporters). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Bay 13 was for all the slagging off of teams etc...I seem to read so much of it on the main board too.

i havent been near Bay13 or the Main board since last week - like you said the genuine cats supporters have been on here to say well played,etc....i dont think either team deserved to lose such a great game, but unfortunately one did, and it was us...sux i know, but Geelong played great, St Kilda played great, if a few bounces had gone our way, if a few snaps on goal and been straight we might have been the ones having to show humility but as it is, good work by the true cats supporters who have not thrown it in our faces, thank you

visit the Bay.....

about the same as last year

I also thank the Saints for a wonderful game. After round 14 I fully expected St Kilda to go on and win the premiership. I thought that Geelong were a little too injured and did not expect a couple of players to come back to full fitness. St Kilda really embraced the 'team' mentality this year and that along with thier fitness and game plan looked to have them over the line. I have my own personal opinions on two players that let your team down but now is not the time to debate such issues. I fully expect to see the Saints at the top next year and look forward to matches against them.
Another thing I must point out was this was a Grand final where there were no melees.....nor reports.....no blatant dog acts. It was good tough hard footy and either team could have taken the cup.
Good luck for next year!

PS It seems to me that most of the derogatory threads are being made and contributed to by clubs other than St Kilda and Geelong

Speaking of good tough footy -

Goddard played out the match with a broken collarbone and broken nose.
Harry Taylor played three quarters of the match with a broken hand.
Chapman played out the match with a dodgy hamstring.

Now that's courage, by both teams.

Geelong's doctor said on SEN today that Taylor's hand was badly bruised and not broken. A great effort none the less......:thumbsu:

Still can't believe we won!

An amazing, incredibly tough game fought by two great teams. In the end, either team deserved the win, and my respect for St Kilda and their players has gone up immeasurably. They showed tremendous heart by never giving in. Every Saints supporter should be proud of that fact. Im certain you guys will be back, and I will be behind you guys to win the flag next year, not at our expense though! :p
