Went down to Casey Fields today and this kid is a star. Beats every full forward that comes around to him and has very very good hands. If we have pick 4-5 i really hope we get him would be a great help to our team and is not a small boy. Could go forward also

There are a load of good Key position players for the early picks. Natanui, Hurley, Watts, Tengrove and McKernan. At least one of those would have to be there by the time of our pick (except for Natanui).

now im not saying that the others are shit but if i had to pick one on today's form i would pick Hurley by far. Don't know whether u went down today but Trengrove, Watts, McKernan didnt look that great.
Some of the best i saw was:
Jamie Sheahan
Nick Surban
Micheal Hurley!!
Mitchell Banner
Chris Yarran
Nicholas Naitanui

Good to read, been harping on about getting this kid for the past few weeks. Backline would look very good in the future with Thursfield and Hurley in the KP posts with Moore as a third tall option.

yer i think our forward line with Riewoldt and Hughes would be good Will and Hurley our key backs i seriously think this guy could take Watts

Hurley and Rance taking on the monsters, Thursfield and Moore 3rd talls.

Best backline in the comp by far.

If we were to take Hurley I would only imagine it's because we can see him playing forward. Rance & Hurley aren't particularly quick, so having both would make our defence too slow. With Thursfield, Moore, Rance and even McGuane as backup our defence isn't a weakness so we need a kpp forward far more than a defender. I know Hurley can play CHF so if they can see him doing it at AFL level then brilliant, but perhaps someone like McKernan or Trengrove would be a better option, I still hope Watts slips to us.

Hurley not quick your joking yer i hope u are anyway he plays always from the back and 3 time today on 3 different opponents got in front and took the mark watts wont drop to our pick people say he'll go number one ahead of natanui

I think Hurley and Rich are the blue chips of the draft. Pure footballers, not much risk to them all, always dominated carnivals and there respective comps. Hurley AA last year and I think Hurley will be AA again. Rich playing well against men already!
I think Watts will go before our pick, and I cant see Hurley going past 4th pick, he is just too good.
Nui, is not a footballer yet, Watts looks the goods but has come from nowhere but is gaining momentum.
Hurley is by far the best defender in the draft. There is daylight from the next best.
I think the top 3 in no order, Watts, Rich , Nui (i wouldnt pick Nui up that early) and i cant see anyone else better than Hurley.
If the two WA teams finish in the bottom 3 Rich and Nui will get picked up.
Last year Rance was meant to be the best defender in the draft, I personally believe that Hurley was better than Rance last year. Put these two together with Thursty & Moore we will have flag defence.
I have thought about other possible KPP but Hurley has there measure.
Others players that we should look at with a lower picks is Tyron Vickery (gets alot of hit outs, Jordan Roughead, Brown they are all Rucks.

Hurley not quick your joking yer i hope u are
He's fast enough to play AFL, but he's a footballer first and an athlete second. Although who knows, I don't think anyone picked Nathan & Mitch Brown to be as fast in testing as were when seeing how they looked on the field.

forget ____in hurley!!!

YOU WENT TO CASEY FIELDS??!!!

you deserve a medal...that place is a paddock in the middle of nowhere...in fact its even further away from nowhere:D

Suspect we'll win a couple more games before the end of the year so I don't think we'll be able to get Nui, Rich, Watts or Hurley. Watts would be perfect but failing that, it has to McKernan at this stage. Have a look at his highlights on other threads.. tall, great grab, moves like his brother but probably a bit quicker off the mark. Just what we need to complement Riewoldlt, Morton and Hughes because all four are slightly different. Have no idea about Trengrove but McKernan looks the realistic pick at this stage.

I'd only be changing this if Morton, Hughes and Reiwoldt all really look the part by the end of the year.. in that case we may not need another tall forward and then i would pick Yarran. Seems like a Rioli type crumber that it is a gap on our young list. As much as I don't like the idea of picking goal sneaks early, have a look at Didak to see what a top class one could do for us.. he was pick 3.

Too true!

You cannot overlook class. If so, we would have overlooked Cotchin for someone taller.

Yarran is all class.

Don't be quick to judge based on the form of one game. Franklin had a poor U18 carnival and he is now one of the elite players of the game.

agree with mckernan...at this stage our most realistic and most ideal pick.

i still think we should pick him no matter how riewoldt, morton and hughes develop for the rest of the year....can never have enough depth...hopefully that goal sneak spot can be filled by collard

a quality mid should still be available at our 2nd pick ie sidebottom, banner, broadbent etc.

I like the look of Lewis Johnson as CHF - we wont get Watts and prob Hurley
Jordan Roughead looks like a likely Ruck

Rekon we have enough rucks to maybe skip one this year?

Simmonds
Patto
Put
Cartledge
Graham

I rekon we should go
1st rnd Key Foward
2nd rnd Bottom age quality mid
3rd rnd Key/small defender

I havent seen anything of the kid however Id be aghast if we went for a FB with R1 selection, with thursty, Moore and Rance down back we have the hallmarks of a very goos defence. To take the next giant leap we desperately need a key forward that can take a game by the aggots...Recruiting another defender next year wont take us anywhere in a hurry:rolleyes:

1st pick, best available. Hurley could be that, but generally I don't think we need a key backman that much.

One of our first 2 picks should be a mid...Every year.

One rookie spot for a ruck prospect...Every year.

Other picks...best available.

Not inclinded to agree Idy, with Foley, Lids and now cotchin we have the diamond cut point to a quality midfield, add to that the untried collins, Connors and edwards likely to mature into senior players. If we were to snag a key forward in the same ilk as Cotchin we would take that giant leap forward rather than edge forward step by %^$@#$ step:thumbsu:

Every team should always be looking out for more mids..

The modern game it's 12-15 of the 22, so you should always looking for more/better.

Not the quality that is worrying, but the quantity. May sound strange, but we will continue to run out of legs unless we get some more midfielders.

That and if you have a player have an off day, or get tagged hard, then you want lots of options.
