I Don't Get It??

I can sort of see their point, as it looks like we may be able to pull a rabbit out of the hat, no matter how dubious the hat is, and jag a gun for nothing.

Having said that, I see your point, as in every other club passed on him, so who cares???

I still think it's a pretty slim chance, however the thought of snagging him for peanuts (what would we pay him? $60k-odd???), and having him show the kids how to train and what effort is req'd in modern day footy is tantalising.

they're all scared of the mighty tiges. dont want to help us at all cuz they KNOW we are back and they dont want to make it worse by helping us even though its all for polak.

good on essendon for backing us. and i would of thought freo will support us as well seeing as polak played for them originally. so SCREW collingwood and carlton!
back to what 9th.good one!! cousins is no judd.just a 31 year old junkie

Nice troll buddy :thumbsu:

judd is no Judd anymore.

The capital J was reserved for when he played in a team of champions and had a functioning groin :thumbsu:

Lets see how good the picks you gave up turn out before we make judgement, but just quietly, they are looking to be rippers :). As I've said before, if you idiots had've passed on judd and let us take him you would have had:

*Cotchin at 1 and Kreuzer at 3. WCE did not want Kreuzer because at that point Seaby was still highly rated there, and with judd and cousins gone they had to take a mid.

*The promising Josh Kennedy

*One of Maric, selwood or pears

You guys have signficantly shortened your premiership window by giving up cotchin, kennedy and pears (you probably would have taken him given your backline is crap) for the almighty judd :thumbsu:

As I said on the main board, if it were Collingwood or anyone else, I would have been agin' it. But it's us, so I'm fer it.
Give Cuz a year to settle in, Cogs a year to ease back into senior footy and the Super Six will have us pushing for the 2010 flag, make no mistake. Richo will only be 35 and easily able to do an Alastair Lynch.

if cousins makes a succesfull comeback with richmond & dominates for the next 3-4 years & collinwood are desperate for class mids.
how stupid will eddie & his cohorts look to their members ??????

know this is probably eddies agenda. he doesnt want cousins anywhere just in case its a success.

as the title say's "i don't get it?"

Why do any of the other clubs care if we put Polak on the rookie list now, instead of before the national draft?

WE passed on pick 70. If we knew of Pollys state better then, we wouldn't have passed on that pick - and 10 clubs may not have gotten the players they did, that were taken with picks adter 70 - including collingwood with Leigh Brown (well they would have - no ****ing chance we would of taken him)

So why are they so fricking "annoyed" or suss that we are going to do it now? surely it is better for them us doing it now, rather than then??

If it is about Cousins ( which it is NOT - it is about Polak's health:mad: - the reports had filtered out that his vision is not appropriate for AFL anymore 3 days ago) - why does it matter?? Any of the 16 clubs could have taken Cousins in the National Draft - we could have taken him with our pick 70.

In the PSD - there are still FIVE clubs who have a pick before us - who can take him.

Eddie McGuire's comments really really irk me
"We just have to remember the Adam Ramanauskas case was a one-off. It wasn't a precedent. It was in totally different circumstances."

whats the major difference Eddie? One got cancer, and the other got in a horrific accident? Would you say that was any different to when Motley had his tragic issue? or if other AFL clubs made you have to keep Darren Milane on the list - because he was still contracted - despite being dead?

It is a morbid comment - and Eddie, it IS a precedent - because any special consideration that has been made in the past - can ALWAYS be used in a court of law to be a precedent.

Greg Swan also irks me with his comments
"If you give Richmond another pick, they might pick a bloke that Melbourne wanted in the rookie draft (in which it has the first pick overall) and maybe that isn't fair.

first off - Melbourne don't need you to protect them - and once again, considering the terrible accident that happened to Motley all those years ago - a club like Carlton should certainly understand the emotion that goes along with these things.

If think any club that questions the motives to "why now" are totally insensitive to both Graham, his family & the RFC as a whole.

OUR club want's to give Graham EVERY chance of getting his life back to what it is - we gave him EVERY chance possible to "get better" before the end of all the drafting - but OBVIOUSLY, he has not improved enough?

Why does our club be accused of using his tragedy - as a "stunt"? It is an insult of the highest order - and our club has always supported other clubs in the same situation - Broadbridge with Melbourne, Rama with the bombers, and so on

Get ****ed Eddie McGuire - you sad fat little prick:thumbsd::mad:

you couldn't keep a powerhouse like Channel 9 at the top - and you could never take a powerhouse like Collingwood to the top - for all your success - you really have never EVER been able to prove you have the winners touch when it matters
I'll tell you why Astro. They're all scared.
15 clubs gave Ben a wide berth because all were too gutless to take a chance.
Kind of like when I was a single man. You'd go to a nightclub and you just knew that if you went over and started talking to the hot chick that was looking at you. You just knew that it would all work out OK if you just went over there and said hello. But you didn't, because she was way too beautiful. So you either settled for something less or you went home alone. But all the while, you just knew that if you took a chance, it would have worked out.
14 clubs passed Benny by (I'll leave the Eagles out of this as they don't deserve to be criticised for not picking him up). All 14 have been too gutless despite knowing that if they took a chance, the end result would be something to brag about forever.
We haven't taken that chance yet. But Eddie and every other club is scared that if we have the guts to go and talk to the hot chick standing on the edge of the dancefloor, there's a very good chance we'll be having some fun later on.;)

Maybe I should've taken note of the responses so far. Everywhere you look on these forums there is an inherent lack of thought put into posts. This thread is just a whinge topic for Richmond supporters. It happens on the Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon....... threads as well. Collingwood are not the only club but the media being themselves have named Collingwood as one of the clubs opposing the move. I put myself into Richmond's shoes and would try the same move. In Collingwood and other clubs shoes, I have every right to oppose it. How about looking at it from other points of view rather than the typical response "They're such sooks, we'll stick it up 'em". Mighty intelligent!!
ur all losing sight of the real issue g polaks health a chance to make it back and above post is right every other club would try the same as for cuz leave him unemployed and draft a kid

The alcohol part is unfounded and shouldn't be brought into the argument.

I am all for allowing this to occur, but it may also open a can of worms for other clubs that have players with long term injuries. Where does the AFL draw the line?? Just a point to consider.

I don't care who Richmond draft, and in fact hope they give Cousins a chance (somebody has too), but look at both sides of the argument. What happened to Polak was tragic, but emotion shouldn't come into a decision like this, only logic.
thanks for that all reports said he was sober just unfortanate missed 1 tram didnt see the other

he was sober alright. They had an official team function where all players are expected and scrutinised to be in a certain condition.
It was only AFTER the function that Polak and a few of the other guys decided to go out and sink a few, as they are entitled, that the accident happened.

where does graeme's health come into this?

the long term injury list was created for cases like this. i am all for the tiges taking ben in the PSD, with pick 6 or whatever it is they already have. this case could set a horrible precedent for the AFL and the tigers shouldnt gain special treatment for Polak when players are often out indefinitely or for extended periods.

its quite simple, if carlton want two players in the PSD we should have better managed our list and delisted another player/ not drafted tiller. why should the tiges get to have their cake and eat it too?

carlton are the last people who should be telling people how to manage their list

No. The LTI was created for players injured on the field of play. The AFL has a history of granting special exemptions to clubs with listed players who are injured/killed outside of football. We had the compassion to give Polak more time to recover and remain on the main list. We should not be punished for this. I know Carlton supporters can't understand the notion of human feelings beyond greed, but hopefully you can at least see that the precedents have already been set.
