I cant figure out how to tape foxtel with my vcr. i dont know how to program the foxtel onto it so it can be taped.

I have foxtel digital with a LG dvd video player.

I have no problems with taping normal t.v channels just cant program foxtel can anyone help me out?

If your setup works like mine then you just need to tune your VCR to the TV channel Foxtel plays on (AV1 for me), and record from there...obviously you need to leave Foxtel on while you are recording and you can't change Foxtel channels at the same time.

Although my VCR is seperate from my DVD player so it might be a different system to yours.

With mine, i record the channel that the Foxtel is on (AV1). On the Foxtel box, you leave the channel you want to record on.

yeah i cant find it.

is there anyway i can?

What channel is your foxtel on? You should know that. For example, AV1, AV2 or AV3.

Mine is a HDD recorder, but it should be the same principle.

Have the Foxtel plugged in to the VCR (AV1 I guess) then plug the VCR in to the TV (AV1 again).

Then turn the TV to AV1 and the VCR to AV1 and Foxtel should be up. The only problem is that you need the VCR on just to watch Foxtel.

Hey buddy. I was recently (just quit) a tech support guy at foxtel. Your best bet to record with the VCR would be to get a SCART to RCA 6 cable. I'd imagine with your existing setup you would have a SCART cable (a big thick black computer looking cord) coming out of the back of your foxtel with a red white and yellow AV cable connecting the foxtel box to the TV?

If this is the case, you either get Foxtel to send you a SCART to 6 cable via the post (7 -10 day wait) or purchase one yourself from dick smith. Rather than having 3 coloured connectors, this one will have 6: 2 yellows, 2 whites and 2 reds. You need to connect this additional SCART cable into the back of your foxtel box (leave the other one connected as well) and run all 6 coloured connections (if possible) into the back of the VCR.

The trick here is to make sure the video "in" cables are into the "out"puts on the VCR. So match the colours insuring that all "in" cables are into "outs" on the VCR and all "out" cables are into the "ins" on the vcr.

The last step is to make sure the VCR is set to its AV1 channel. This may be A1 or line one as well. Depending on the make of the VCR.

Now to switch to the VCR after completing this connection you have to press the AV button on the top left corner of the Foxtel remote. If the image stays the same while doing this, dont worry as it is merely the foxtel image running through the VCR. If you put in a tape now to play, it should appear on screen. You can now use the Foxtel and AV button on the foxtel remote to cycle between your foxtel box and the VCR

AV button on FOX remote = VCR

Foxtel button = Switches back to Foxtel.

If you put in a blank tape and press the AV button, you should still have the Foxtel running on screen (provided you havent played the tape) to record this image you just need to press the record button using the VCR remote as your normally would when recording. Remember if you need to change what you are recording or change channel on Foxtel, you need to press the Foxtel button on the Foxtel remote.

Hope this helps! Let me know how you go :)

with your video player do an auto tune so it picks up every channel. one of those should be foxtel eventually.

Only if he has an RF connection. Pretty rare nowdays as its a pain in the ass and loses tuning alot. Mainly for older style TV's that dont have AV inputs.

Sounds like problems I had with the Foxtel/LG recorder combination. I could record but not in stereo. Tried every possible connection, configuration without success. I ended up taking it back to the retail outlet, swapped it (plus some cash) for a Panasonic recorder. It worked first up and I have never looked back. I tend to stay clear of LG stuff now.
