So we're doing a "I told you so" thread after one round?

Well while we are making early calls, I'll go ahead and say Collingwood are certainties for the flag because we beat the NAB Cup premiers. Also Freo certain top 8 because they beat Adelaide.:p

But seriously, wait at least a few weeks before saying "I told you so!" Anybody remember Muston last year?:o

Heh, what a great year it was! Carlton spread all their goals, showed no signs of missing Fev. Melbourne and Richmond again finished down the bottom of the ladder.

In preseason everyone was talking about which Top 4 side would drop out of the 8...Bulldogs came through for that one.

Yarran won the rising star for being the only one nominated and Brown won the coleman with 5.

Finally, in a first ever record brownlow night, 8 players tied for the trophy.

Juddy had a quiet year though... ;)

The boilover is that Freo came within one point of being premiers, barely losing out to Hawthorn!

Trengrove for Banner.

Can somebody give me a second opinion on the above trade. My logic is that Bannet at $100,000 will go up in value by atleast another $100,000 (providing another decent score) by round 3. Whereas, Trengrove will not go up too much with his price tag around $180,000 already.

So the initial trade will net me $80,000 in reserve, and for the subsequent upgrade of Banner to a more experienced and proven midfielder.

Is this logic misguided or does it sound like a reasonable plan? I don't see Trengrove being a world beater in the first half of the season (Nor Banner, but has more upside in a better team).

Firstly, you won't make $100,000 on Banner by Round 3. Maybe half that.

Secondly, have you looked into why Banner scored well? Port won't win easily (for three quarters) every week and at home like in Round 1. Also, have you looked into who is waiting to return for Port?

Now, after all this, have you thought about what Trengove and Banner will average across the next 6-8 weeks? Is there a significant difference there?

How many points do you expect this trade to make you (both directly, and indirectly from using the extra $70,000) over the journey?

Just scraped into the top 8, looking to bounce back next year. Riewoldt averaged 4 goals a game, and Brett Peake played every game of the season.

Percentage stuffed us (every game we played was a nailbiter) but always next year.

Classic thread. Fev stayed out of trouble all year while in Brisbane and Gumby cemented himself as the king spud of supercoach.

Why did I keep Gumby in my starting 22 all year. Should have eventually traded Buddy instead of having all that cash on the bench.
