I truly believe the coach runs the show, until the board vote to sack him, not the playing list, not the CEO, not the former coach.

Buckley needs to take a stand, call EVERYONE into a room and say that if there's going to be anyone talking to the media it would be him.

I know Eddie has his role of Triple M, but he needs to say no Collingwood talk, if he's asked a question about the club, he needs to pass it on to Buckley.

Yes it'll look like we're running to say, but I think what it does is it enforces to everyone at the club that we are behind the coach, we are behind the path forward plan and we are one.

When things get back on track, then we open up a touch.

Unfortunately we can't have a media ban.

Pendles has a contract with the Herald Sun to write for them, Eddie is in the media for a living, and others have responsibilities that require them to talk and interact with the media (Luke Ball as AFLPA president).

Plus, Eddie is the only person associated with this club who has stepped over the line this week, all our players, coaches and other staff have said and done nothing wrong in the media.

Maybe Eddie should impose a media bad on himself.:p:eek:

collingwood have always been media friendly, and as recent as the last 2 years it no doubt has provided much benefit.

yes on this occasion theres a downside - but compare it to footscray/melbourne/north for example - do they get their good news stories to the public domain - not very often.

a necessary evil - just need to remember how to grease its wheels and not become their victim.

You take the good with the bad. I can ignore it easily enough, I'm sure a guy as strong minded as Buckley can too.

Man it's just ****ing common sense. Hopefully it was just a slip of the tongue or bad choice of words by Ed, which is okay because we're all human, but let's hope it never happens again.

Do you not recognise that every bit of exposure that Collingwood gets, good or bad provides value to our sponsors? I'm not a fan of the type of stuff that went on this week between Eddie and Mick but in the wider scheme of things it was good for Collingwood financialyy if nothing else. Whether or not Ed's comments were staged specifically for the purpose is anyone's guess but the outcome from a sponsors point of view cannot be discounted.

This is why we are Collingwood. We will always be big in the media becuase we are a power club. What the club needs is its supporters to stand by each other and the club and trust in the decisions being made.

The club will always be bigger then any one person be that Mick, Eddie, Buckley or whoever. No matter what happens life goes on but its the supporters that stick by the club both during the good and bad time are what makes Collingwood a great club to follow.

Enjoy the tall poppy syndrome, it us against them
