Last night, at the Crystal Palace court, I had the pleasure of watching the Duke Blue Devils - Coach K, Chris Duhon and all, playing my team, the London Towers.

And they lost:) :)

Coach K got slapped with a 'T' :)

Mind you, Duhon can throw a pass.

Seeing them again this evening :)

oh damn ya boozer!

hmm.. why dont the blue devils come play someone decent, like some of the NBL aussie teams ;)

who are the stars on the london towers?

Aw Coxon

You know Aussie b'ball is full of guys who couldn't make it in Europe:)

Actually, the main reason (I think) that Duke are over is that Duke are after someone called Luol Deng (born in Nigeria but spent almost all of his lfe in England). Coach K is only allowed two visits unless they are playing a match close to the players home for 'out of State' prospects. This means he can talk more with Deng's parents.

The Towers main players are Kendrick Warren, Terrell Myers and Robert Youngblood.

Warren stands 6'9 and generally plays PF though has the skills to play some minutes at any spot. Decent outside shooter with nice post moves. He handles the ball well and playes sound defence without seeming to try. He played for us two years ago then went to Iceland last year. In his first spell he was 2nd or sometimes 3rd banana on the team behind Steve Bucknall (ex UNC and Lakers in the late 1980's) and Randy Duck (yes, what a name) who replaced Jason Kidd at College when Kidd turned pro. I hope they make Kendrick the go to guy this year - as a former CBA MVP he deserves it.

Myers is a guard who gets MVP votes in our League because he scores. Unfortunately if he doesn't score you don't get much else. I reckon last season (his first on the team) he averaged about 2 assists per game (and about four total passes). Lazy on D where he reaches too much and no concept of team play.

Youngblood is the reverse. He plays power forward or centre and is a warrior. He was the go to guy at the end of games for the other London team when they won the League a few years back. A real blue collar type.

We will probably be adding a couple more Americans/ European passport players very soon, I suspect a point and a small forward. We sould have enough points scoring ability but could use ball handling, assists, defence and possibly a little more flat out speed.
