Only found these guys maybe 2 months ago but I really love their stuff now. Thrash band that started in the 80s but have some great variation in their songs as well. It isn't all straight out thrash as they have some great slow parts, accoustic parts and even a couple with an orchastra. They have 2 massive songs - both with 3 parts. Doubt they'd be too well known outside of metal fans but anyone into Maiden, Pantera, Metallica etc should give them a listen and probably love them. They have several cool covers too of songs like Electric Funeral, Hallowed Be They Name, Long Way To The Top and Number Of The Beast. I'm giving them an 8 out of 10.

Some great songs for people if they want to try them out.

Pure Evil
Declaration Day
1776 (Instrumental)
The Phantom Opera Ghost

Oh and by the way...they've had 4-5 singers I believe. Their latest album (The Glorious Burden which has Declaration Day) contains one of the ex Judas Priest singers. I've heard all of their singers and like each one in their own way. I think that at least 3 are covered in those 4 songs I listed.

I did a thread on them a while back...but good to see some more support!

I advise you to get Alive in Athens as quickly as possible. An absolutely sublime live album.

I think Ripper Owens is a great acquisition for them. Was never a huge fan of Matt Barlow's vocals, always thought they were probably the weakness that stopped the band getting a bigger profile. Dunno if Ripper will give them that profile (or if anything will, for that matter), but he's a much better singer.

Still, "Dark Saga" is probably their high point for me, but with Ripper in tow, there's some potential to surpass that.

I've got all their albums and have listened to pretty much all of them. There are lots of great songs that I've heard but can't recall the names.

Hey IE ever been out to Australia?

Good solid band. Not familiar with all their stuff but i really enjoyed Night Of the Stormrider. They had a singer (the one on Something Wicked This Way Comes) whos voice had an uncanny resemblence to Paul Stanley of Kiss.

Matt Barlow. Top vocalist until he decided to join the police. One of the few members that got on well with Jon Schaffer (mind you Jon Greely - from NOTS - was a tosspot anyway)

Quite a revolving door band. had 8 different drummers :O Spinal tap territory here...though I don't think any of them spontaniously combusted on stage.

Picked up a nice Iced Earth long sleeve 'The Reckoning' top today. Bit to big but who cares?

Ripper Owens is a decent pick up after loosing Barlow.

One of my mates put me onto these guys a while ago but Ive only just got round to giving them a proper listen.

Currently enjoying Something Wicked This Way Comes, which album should I move onto next?

Night of the Stormrider and The Dark Saga are both really good albums.
