Sensational band and extremely under-rated

Do yourselves a favour and get anyone of

Hope is Important
100 Broken Windows
The Remote Part
Warnings / Promises
Make Another World

All 5 albums are class

Just a great rock band :thumbsu:

Geez.. I havent heard these blokes for a fair while. Used to love the 'Little Discourage' song. Might go and have a listen.

Loving their new album. Warnings/Promises was a disappointment for me. 100 Broken Windows is easily their strongest album imo. Anyone heard anything about any tours? I missed out on their tour a couple of years ago and I'm dying to go.

Seven year bump. Warranted though. I got into these guys through FIFA 2003 – I used to love the little 90 second version of You Held the World In Your Arms on my old PS One. Then I saw Bloc Party guest programme Rage about the time this thread was active, and Kele nominated how much Roseability meant to him.

How this band wasn't bigger is beyond me. They went to a major label. They were melodic. They were scots who played nice sounding guitars. Would've ridden the coattails of the 2005-onward guitar music trend but seemingly existed in the wrong period. I love how many great pop songs they wrote and what an ear melody they had – crazy. They also wrote some unashamed pop songs which are sometimes good but mostly a bit gay but okay.

I can't believe this but I'm chuffed it once was believable:
I remember the J's loved them a few years back but haven't heard much since.

Considering the current flavour of the BF music category, has anyone else heard Idlewild?

Really like them.

Put this on the Rate what the person above you is listening to thread

Roseability another fave track.

I don't like the first 30 seconds or so but man, two minutes in, this thing becomes huge. I've always been found of a bit of poetry in music. Did you ever see them live? I've read some reports and it seems like they actually went down really well here in Australia. Apparently they're doing a new album so hopefully they jaunt back out here.

One of my favourite bands. Not sure why they were never received more love here.

Also interesting the difference in style between their early albums 'Captain' and 'Hope is Important' to their next albums '100 Broken Windows' and 'The Remote Part'.

100 Broken Windows is probably my favourite album.

They were good fun live. Remember seeing them at The Rob Roy in about 2003 and The Corner in about 2005?

Good to see them recording another album as well. Thought they were pretty much done.

Woah, the Rob Roy?! I pretty much live ten metres from there. I remember working a shift there once, being sent to that bandroom and realising how it was even smaller than I imagined. Pretty cool to think they played there.

100 Broken Windows is my favourite of theirs. I love how melodic it is, so many great little moments. It's basically little shreds of pop songs against completely un-pop music. Awesome band.
