If Neale Daniher came to Essendon!

If anyone from the Essendon commitee is reading this thread please do not appoint Neale Daniher as coach at our club he had a good list at Melbourne and did not get it to its potential. We should go for a new coach. Guy Mckenna has all the attributes as a player and he has worked as an assistant with two succesful coaches.

I've read a few Perth people on here saying how McKenna is a dud. Your committee will find the best coach.

Get some new blood in there. McKenna is my choice too. Malthouse and Carey have both given him huge wraps. Thats enough for me..

If we get Neale Id be very dissapointed, hes just average, Id rather take a gamble on an unexperienced head coach, i.e: McKenna, with potential to be great, rather than a 10-year vet at the Dees of all teams, who hasnt shown anything over 10 years to warrant another job.

I agree though...I don't know why you'd bring in someone who's been rejected by one club after 10 years of underperformance...doesn't make any sense. Let's hope it's just the media talking...

I wouldn't mind Neale Daniher, as much as I admired Sheedy over the years, and as much as I wouldn't mind if he stayed, I do think that we could use a change, and a new coach may get some of the struggling fringe players fired up and out of their comfort zone.
My only real gripe with Sheeds is that he isn't ruthless enough at the selection table when we are going ordinary and that he is a bit "chummy" with a few of the struggling older players at the club.

I dont get this anti-Daniher sentiment at all.

If your smart enough to find your PC's power button (assumedly proven, your here posting on this forum) you should be able to figure out that ND's record at Melbourne, as basket-case a modern club as there could possibly be, is nothing short of phenominal.

The guy would have won them a flag if he hadnt run into the best performed team of the era at its peak in 2000.

Did anyone else care to take a look at the Demon's injury list earlier this year? If you took half the best 22 out of any club bar West Coast, youd make their coach look pretty damn bad too.

The other argument against Melb is its recruiting. Well crap, Rivers and Miller looked pretty damn good 2 years ago. What coach can predict which kids will come on and which will just stagnate and give up? /wave Kepler Bradley. The irony here is Melbourne back in ~2002 took a much hyped CHB prospect called Luke Molan at #4 or something early like that. The kid broke his leg (badly) and never played a senior game.

If that hadnt happened, and Melbourne hadnt been decimated in 2007 by injuries, perhaps now we would be talking about Melbourne vs Geelong grand finals rather than whether or not Essendon might have a chance at picking up this (excellent) coach.

Summary

* Daniher + hopeless scrub club with no supporters and no money = lots of finals, a grand final loss to the best team of the era

* Daniher + great club with massive supporter base and huge financial resources = ???

If youd reject ND out of hand, your a bleeding fool.
