... It's re-sign Dimma for an additional two years.

Make no mistake, if we get rid of Dimma we're going backwards. None of this Malthouse/Worsfold/etc/etc saviour stuff. Lock away Dimma away now, and make the statement loud and clear that we believe in the direction of our footy club. Because, looking past the pain were all undoubtedly feeling right now, we are on the right path.

In 2010 Dimma start from sub-zero. Deledio, Cotchin, Edwards, Riewoldt, Rance... That's probably about all that is left from when he took over. He's built the rest, and they play for him. I know, it's easy to get caught up in how let down we are, but the team that Dimma has built has delivered three consecutive finals appearances; which is more than the 28 years preceding this tenure put together.

Looking at it as a whole, you could say that this year should've been the year; I get that. The slow build of 10, 11, 12 followed by 13's choke and 14's run out of steam.. This should've been it... But it wasn't. But that's not to say that everything is wrong. We just didn't execute like we could have on Sunday; the gameplan is as consistent as it's ever been.

Every single year Dimma has added something to this team. The end result was the same this year, but the team is in the best place it's been for 30 years. They'll add something again this season. More quality draft choices; more expertly sharked experience from other clubs; and we'll improve again next year. Our core is so young, so talented; their delivery of their potential is just around the corner.

Take the speculation away. Shut all the flog panelists and journos up and don't even give them the chance to question our future. Lock Dimma away, and let them focus on turning this pain into a Top 4 finish next year.

I'm pumped already

i think it is, after every loss him being in his last contracted year will be in the media for the following week, esp if we have another slow start....

No doubt he will be re-signed.
The club and players love him.
If he didnt make the finals this year he would of got the arse.
He deserves another 2 years IMO. (3 in total)

Totally agree, you articulated exactly what i hoped to say in a much better way.

The club is now professionally run, when the dust has settled and the emotions have cooled I'm sure a thorough review will take place.
As always, I'll put my faith in those that KNOW, not the media who love nothing more than a destabilised club, not just us, and year long speculation, nor those that want change for the sake of change.
I'm fairly confident Dimma will be our coach at the start of 2017.

Just do what clubs do with older players; re-sign him, but just for 1 additional year, with the clause that we must win a final before the end of 2017, and that if we don't, we'll let him go.

Clearly set the expectations now, give him 2 more years total (the year he's currently contracted to right now + 2017), and if he can't win a final in that time, well then he's had 8 seasons by that point, so I think he'd be willing to admit by then that he can't take us further anyway.

Sure, it puts pressure on, but if we're ever going to win a flag, that's the kind of pressure he needs to be under. And as for the media, well, if they know the set guidelines, that Dimma has 2 more years (2016 and 2017) to win a final, they will still go hard for him, but we've been shown to stick to our word under Peggy and Gale, so I don't even think the media would be that horrible.

He's had a couple of amateurish finals.
Not factoring in a gale in preparation for one final and then not playing man on man so their spare man destroyed us.

Panic and risk taking in selection for this one. Showed lack of faith in where we are as a footy team.

Luckily so far we don't have the cattle for a top 2 finish so no harm done.

Getting rid of Dimma wouldn't be the end of the world. Conca and Griff obviously rekon he's alright.. the 2 that missed out would be happy to see him go. You'd rekon.

Positives are is that he has stiffened us up.

Let's wait and see a bit.

I disagree we need to read the this is your last year if u don't improve us , let's give him some arsenal and recruit but after 7 and no improvement he has to go

Nothing happens on Dimma until mid-year. If he's performing we offer him one year (2017) or the option of waiting until the end of the season where he may get a two year extension for top 4 or the chop depending on results.

dimma defs should stay, but boy he or the other coaches made some massive **** ups which cost us, selection, hansen etc
this trade window is our biggest, we need to address all these things, small forward , Big mid, ruckman

The club is not professional. A professional club's players would turn up in the biggest game of the year. Three years in a row this club has been mentally vacant.

I wouldn't say done nothing, that's not fair. But done as much as he is ever going too, that I could agree on.

Sorry, when I saw "done nothing", what I mean is done nothing that any mediocre appointee wouldn't have done. I see absolutely nothing extraordinary about him. There have been stacks of mistakes and our progress has been ludicrously slow and small.

I would describe re-signing him now as idiotic at best.

He will have had 7 years by the time his contract finishes in 2016. If he deserves another one then well all good but not now.
