Ok boys and gals if you were Chris Judd and you had these 5 teams in Carlton, Collingwood, Kangaroos, Essendon and Hawthorn chasing you which one of these teams would be you preffered destination going sloley on the list of the above mentioned clubs. And please give reasons why you would want to go to those clubs.

of course the majority of posters on the carlton board will be biased towards carlton. this thread would be better utilised on the main board. :thumbsd:

Not Collingwood. Their list is terrible, and they have a strong history of deskilling footballers e.g. Cam Cloke, Tarrant.. Not North. AD is actively trying to relocate them right now. Essendon. Old, slow spine, and no midfield talent to support him. Carlton. The most raw talent in the AFL. An abundance of emerging midfield elites. Talent and attitude on every line. A briliant attacking style of footy, although a little inconsistent at this point. The opportuity to provide forward 50 delivery to the best FF in th AFL - Fev. A list destined for success. Now a financial powerhouse. Massive supporter base. Success culture. Easy decision I would have thought. :)

Hawthorn or Carlton have the brightest futures and are beginning to rise. Either of those teams from an objective point of view.

Essendon seem to be fighting the tide thats dragging them down the ladder.

Yeah your right I forgot to say try not to be biased guys ... I for one think Essendon have a pretty goodlist with some good young talent who could play in the midfield.

ROFL, i needed a good laugh today, thanks for that

Hawthorn or Carlton are just ahead of the others in there development at this stage,

It will be all about what is offered for him and he won't come cheap, i doubt it will happen anyway he will stay at the eagles.

Why didn't Melbourne get a run on that list?
Probably the club he has been most closely linked to.

I think any club would have difficulty fitting him into their cap without sacraficing other key players. Do we risk not being able to pay BG and Murph enough money because we have to pay Judd 800k+ per year?

Judd will need to be realistic about his contract if he wants success to. If the Ross paid him 1 million per year they will spend a very long time with 1 superstar surrounded by "cheap" players.

Having said that I have no doubt he will come to CFC :D

well i would need lots of decision making love from my misses...

Then if they were the clubs i had to choose from I would sign with the Hawks and the blues because they have a list going somewhere soon.. But i would wanna sign with Geelong of course.

But in the end primership medals are what you play the game for, so why leave west coast?

Because by the end of this year he will have two premiership medals, and he'd like to win one at a club, and in an environment that isn't what he is in ATM.......IMO.

The challenge of lifting a former powerhouse out of the doldrums, back to its rightful place as the Leagues best team........welcome to the Blues Judd. :D

West Coast

As much as we Victorians hopes that he will come home, there is no way West Coast will let a talent like Judd go. Honestly, who here can see him leaving? Also can anyone name one "Big Name" player who has jumped ship in the past 10 years?

Barry Hall, Tony Locket, Nick Stevens, Leigh Colbert, Mal Michael, Jason Akermanis.......................I'm sure there is more, but that's plenty to make the point.

Akermanis
Wayne carey
Spider Everitt
Chris Tarrant (not a good player but "Big Name")
Nathan Brown (Richmond)
:D

O.K, Tony Locket wasn't in the last 10 years. Wayne Carey and Jason Akermanis were different situations. They were pretty much forced out. And players like Barry Hall and Aaron Hamill weren’t big names when they left their respective clubs. Nathan Brown I will give you. But when I mean "Big Name Players" I mean someone in the clubs top 3. Like a Judd, Hird, Kouta or Buckley.

This is why Judd will stay at West Coast

I think he might stay at the Eagles but it would be tempting if he was looking for a new challenge to come back home to Victoria

Is that meant to be a joke?

Must be.........

You didn't mention two of my Fav's....Campo and Michael.
Both big names.....one the premier midfielder for his team, the other one of the leagues best FB's...............funny how you brush over these.
Cain ackland was the number 1 ruck at the saints (not saying much....but still)
Tarrant......Leigh Colbert was the Cats best player...............
Mate, wave the flag.....you've been well and truly shot down.

Drugs, arrogance, serious culture problems eating at the club like cancer.........these are the reasons Judd will Leave WCE.

While I admit that Scott Camporeale would have fallen under Carlton's Top 3 years ago, when Essendon got him he would have been a top 10 player at the most. And while Mal Michael may have been the best Full Back, he wouldn't have fallen under Top 3. Not with the likes of Voss, Black and Brown making headlines. I am very glad to have Mal Michael; but he isn’t a Top 3 player.

....but both, and in fact everyone that has been named (still haven't mentioned Colbert yet)....is a BIG NAME player that has jumped (sometimes with some help)........but you've backpedalled as far as "How many Top 3 players have voluntarliy left a club"

Colbert
Akermanis - mutual, but he walked as much as he was pushed
Brown
Croad

Why target Judd? Or more specifically, why only Judd?

Surely the best bet for us, given our lack of depth, would be to throw a massive offer at West Coast for Judd, in the knowledge that they'll probably match, then poach the next best talents when they run into salary cap constraints? Guys like Selwood, Rosa, Hunter, etc - much more likely to be available, and much more likely to be traded for at a discount. We could probably pull off Whitnall for Selwood if we wear a bit of Whitnall's contract and they are severely under the pump...
