Has anyone else had a go at one?

(for example, have you ever tried to make your own big mac, or KFC etc)

i've spent the last couple of years perfecting my own KFC, which i would describe as half hot and spicy and half crispy strip.

My recipe is
a good 2 cups Flour
Corn flour (about a quarter of the flour you use)
generous sprinkling of Onion powder
generous sprinkling of Garlic powder
Oregano
Lots of Cayenne pepper
few good shakes of Paprika
lots of Ground Chilli (need this regardless. More for zinger pieces)
approx 1/4 cup Salt
5 tablespoons Pepper

Dip the chicken in an egg and milk wash then dip in the spices. We do that twice for a thick costing. Shallow fry in olive oil for a couple mins each side. Drain on paper towel

pic below. tastes amazing. that is enough for approx 1kg of chicken

Years ago I made something very similar to popcorn chicken. Can't remember the recipe anymore though.

I'll be trying that recipe though :D

Took my food class last year and got the students to make imitation Big Macs. Turned out quite a bit bigger then the maccas one but seemed to tasty 100x better.

The sauce was tip top and wish I remembered what was in it.

How shallow is shallow? Like would a normal pan suffice?

and surely the chicken would have to be cooked more than a couple of minutes
I usually deep fry to be honest. About 5 min a piece. Shallow fry youd need about an inch of oil

I used to use a similar ingredients list to make popcorn chicken. Not the healthiest meal :p Damn tasty when you nail it though.

Found this a while back and have made a few things of it, not bad. Some you just look at the ingredients and know there is no way you'd ever have it. Pretty Americanized.

trans fats are bad for you. I was referring to animal fat you made out were bad for you in your post. Your understanding on diet and nutrition is misguided because you've based it on bad science.

So if one were to eat fried chicken how should it be cooked?

Not so much a recipe, but i hate bolognese sauce with chunks in them and 'smooth' sauce is hard to come by, so i just use tomato sauce. I should ask, those little jars you can get that have spices, herbs and so on in them, can you add them to the cooking process with the tomato sauce?

Spot the shit cook.

Ed, when we catch up for dinner, lets go out.

Seriously, that sounds bloody awful.

Just use a can of diced tomatoes and then you can add herbs :)

Ok deal. :D

Call it strange, but it's almost bordering on a phobia with tomatoes. I never order burgers with tomatoes on them and if i know a meal i'm ordering has tomatoes on them, i asked for them to leave them off. If they accidently leave them on, i don't eat anything it may have touched, the seeds freak me out. :D But tomato sauce, i'm cool with that. :)

I'm not quite as bad. But I'm the same in preferring tomato-less burgers, but liking tomato sauce.

When you were a kid did you only eat things that were white?

Is that your only weird food thing? (I suspect not :p)
