Hi,

Have brought this up on another board, but thought I would bring it up here to get a more informed response. To cut a long story short, I transferred money into an incorrect account, using netbank, instead of into another account of mine.

I dealt with this other account about 2 years ago, but it stayed in my account list. Now, my query is... will the account be still held by the same person/company (EzyDVD in this case), or if it is not still held by them, it would not be held by another person? If this is not a valid account, would my money get denied for the transfer?

Also, I have contacted EzyDVD by leaving a message on their machine, but if I do not hear from them, should I contact the bank at which I transferred the money into?

I just want to put my mind at ease a bit, so any input would be great!

given it's EzyDVD you'd assume their bank details are still the same and the account hasn't been cancelled.

If you enter it into an invalid account i'm pretty sure the money just goes back into your account and you could be charged a fee of some description.

But in all likelihood the money is now sitting in EzyDVD's account and they are obliged to give you that money back. It's just a matter of brining it to the approriate person's attention at EzyDVD.

I once transferred money into an incorrect account (ie the account number didn't exist at all - I had left out a digit of the acc no.) and the money was returned a few days later.

If the funds have gone to EzyDvd then they should refund the money, just need to talk to a person who can do it. If that doesn't work next point is to call your bank and get them on the case.

You should get your money back, but you will probably have to make a few phone calls and constantly hassle and chase until you get your funds back. It will be a real pain, but I found the best way to deal with things like this is to make phone calls every day until you become a nuisance to them and they give you your money back not so much because it the correct and legal thing to do but more just to get you off their backs!

Normally if the account no longer exists the money will bounce back a few days later.

If it is sitting in ezydvd's accounts then just call them and get them to send it back, it shouldn't be a problem just be straight with them and tell them it was an accident.

That's what happened to me recently when I was given incorrect bank details. Cost me $2.50 :thumbsd:

I have transferred money into many employees bank accounts that were incorrectly given to me (maybe 1 or 2 numbers wrong), it has always bounced back and i've never been charged for the error. Bendigo Bank.

Well the Commonwealth slug me with $2.50 fees every time it happens.

I've heard good things about the Bendigo Bank however they stuffed me around when I tried opening an account there this year.....

I honestly couldn't recommend Bendigo Bank highly enough. A real old style feel to it, eg. if you want to talk to someone about a loan you see your local manager, no call centers. At every other bank i've been made to feel like i'm nothing but a number, whereas at bendigo i am always made to feel like a person. I hope bendigo never change from this style, I will never bank with the big banks ever again after getting this sort of service.

Nah, i run my own business, but i am reasonably passionate against the big corporation size banks and the way they manipulate and rip off average people. Them and the big oil companies, dislike them intensely. If there was a decent alternative to buying fuel from shell/mobil/bp etc, i'd be doing it dont worry.
