The 3 quarter time siren. On fire Essendon, had them on the rack.

We needed the first goal in the last.

From memory arounf 7 minutes had gone by without a goal to either team and i remember saying to my mate that the next goal is huge. Would have put us around 16 points up.

Not only is he awful but that stupid block he tried to lay on when we were streaming forward and 10 points up. No need for that at all. The tackler wouldnt have made it anyway.
Thought we lost that when we got rid of Solomon

Then the bulldogs get a goal straight after the free and we know what happened next.

We also had them on the rack for the first 5 minutes of the last.

The mark that wasn't paid to McPhee was disgraceful. It was just inside the 50 and it could have made it 16 points and a rest for the likes of McVeigh.

Agree, first five mins we had it on a bloody string.

Watching Stanton put in Carazzo like efforts and mooch off the hard working in and under players, sitting off the pack and getting easy possessions, before finally being named in the best. SOFT.

Losing the chance to go 3-1. We could've played better in the first quarter. We had the Doggies on the ropes for the 2nd and 3rd quarter, and we really should've won it then.

Also getting a train home was an absolute nightmare after the game.

You were watching the wrong game. Stanton was great.

Go look at a replay of that goal he helped setup from McVeigh for examples of how he played. Laid some desperate tackles, forced himself into the play, got in the right position to get the ball and then kicked it to the right spot. Was indicative of his effort all night. He showed a much greated ability to get in at the right time and then run to to space when he wasn't. Still not perfect, but a good effort overall.

Completely agree. Worst decision to give him the number 5, and is probably the most overrated player in our side at the moment. Exactly what we don't need right now, we have guys who can run and carry the ball, we need a few more in and under guys. Stanton is slow, lacks intensity, soft, and has poor skills. I know we won't get rid of him, they obviously rate him if he's been given the number 5 and is playing midfield, but if we are seriously looking to the future that suits our new game plan then Stanton needs to go.

FFS Stanton was solid all night. He actually worked hard against the doggies and kicked 3 handy goals and set up a McVeigh goal

I watched the game, i know he played his game well, but my argument is that his game is entirely self centred and contributes little to the team, and our new style. We do NOT need a midfielder who has little pace, puts in half arsed efforts and is soft.

Interesting post considering last week you went off your head at supporters having a go at McPhee and talked about about how they should be supporting the players, not bagging them.

Or does that only apply to players you like?

That occurred right in front of me. And I agree with you, the momentum was lost completely - we had the ball going forward, chance of a goal, then this stupid indiscretion.

Apart from that, there were some stupid handballs when we could have made something out of possession - but the Doggies turned it into a goal for them instead.

Remember on the city side wing, where our guy got a free and they turned it into the free awarded to the Doggies, then two more penalties followed by a goal?

There's got to be more discipline and concentration and focus on what our guys are supposed to do at all times.

Last week i was drunk.
Gee, what an excuse:rolleyes:
How about you piss off yourself or at least post something constructive you ______
What was so bad with Stanton's game to suggest that he should be moved on for our 'future'? Because he isn't an in and under player? So ____ing what, he ran hard and applied some good tackles. He kicked 3 goals as a midfielder and helped set up a couple too.
Theres no doubt he has room to improve on his 'team actions' but for a 21 year old, he has certainly shown he'll be apart of our future. FFS he was one of our best players against the bullies and was absolutely spent after the game, he tried his heart out. There are many other players that played a far worse game than him last night

We need in and under players, and he offers little in this department, as well as his pace, skills, and committment to his team mates. I just think it would be best if we traded him for someone more suited to the new Essendon, im sure there would be some very good players offered for him.

I must agree, the bombers had us on the ropes and if it wasn't for the two injuries, it might have been alot different.

However rama did have a simple chance in the last quarter which I feel turned the match also. Had that goal gone through the crowd and the bowbers would have lifted, history shows we took the footy to the other end and scored a goal to make it a 12 point play.

Stiff bombers fans, you didn't deserve to lose.

Comes across as quite a patronising post. Im sure it was meant to be genuine and you are right, Rama's miss was very costly. We ran out of legs but that first goal in the final quarter was so crucial.

you truely are a ____ing idiot. stanton slow? comapred to davey, lovett, jetta yeah, but most others: not slow in anyone's books. he's a good player, and hopefully will become a great one.

"stanton needs to go"

What a great idea...trade one of the only kids who has been consistent over the past 2 yrs AND got games under Sheeds. It is a well known fact with Stants that he was a shy kid and he is only just finding his feet...he will get better and better...

But hey, let's put you in charge...I heard that Melb have offered Brock McLean... good player... in and under...tough... they even offered to pay for his next three court appearances, and gave us the name of a good lawyer to boot... he would really fit in with the "new Bombers"...
