Just heard that Goodwin, Skipworth and Johncock are all in some doubt for Friday night's game.

Has anyone got any info? (I guess there will be a training run today)

Thanks.
I heard Goody has general soreness - but will play

Stiff has a cold - will play

Skippy won't play because the bruising hasn't gone down where he tried to kick Archer's foot with his shin

Anyone think Watts or Meeson will get a go this week or the Count may get another 5 minutes???

I don't know why NC would consider any of them, although VB may come in for Skipworth. Bode would be more likely though.

Carrying on with my philosophy of finding about all the youngsters on my list, I would look at playing Meesen instead of VB. As a coach NC would already have formed some idea of how VB would go in the long term. NC now has to see how everyone else goes..starting with Meesen.

Having said that..it is how I would do it..doesnt mean I will spit chips if it doesnt happen.

Should we stretch Melbournes defence a little bit more with Meesen?

While I agree with you I dont think they will go down that path until it's impossible to make the eight.

I suppose it's Bodeys turn this week for chance number 10. Then next week we can recycle Massie, then the week after Begley, and so on and so on.

I have heard from a couple of different sources now that Jericho will come in for Skippy if he misses. Apparently Jericho has been in really good form at Westies. Havent seen him myself but according to a mate out at Westies, he has been in a class of his own out there. The other source was KG. Granted, KG like my mate probably have some bias in they are both Westies supporters but he was also named as an emergency last week, so they could be on the money. Personally I'd rather see Jericho get a crack than Bode. As you stated he's had plenty of chances and taken none. Also Massie has had his lot too. Begley I have some time for but he needs to get some good games under his belt at Sturt before getting another go, IMO.

With all due respect to Bode.......I would be concerned about selection policy direction if Bode got a game this week...

Bodey's missed the last month, so I think he will (and should) definitely come back via Glenelg.

My changes this week would be:

Out-Skipworth (Inj), Doughty
In-Van Berlo, M.Stevens OR Jericho

AFC's changes will likely be:

Out-Skipworth (Inj)
In-Jericho OR Van Berlo

By the way, am I correct in saying that we haven't played The Dees at the MCG since the 2002 semi-final?? Some nice memories there. :)

I know that this is our only scheduled game at the G this year, let's hope we can make it count.

I would much rather see Jericho get a game this week than Bode. I have lost all faith in Bodey, however, I do think he should maybe get one more chance. But not this week. Begley shouldn't be in our first 22 IMO, however, he is a handy depth player to cover injuries.

Yeah, some good memories against the Dees at the G.

A personal favourite, and I still have the game on tape, is the one from 2001, when ND lined up Woey on Jars, and the great man slotted 6.

The best goal I thought was in the third Q when Melbourne tried to change direction of play and Jars swooped, spoiling and collecting the ball before it even hit the ground, before depositing it into the upper reaches of the Ponsford Stand (?).

And then he set up the sealer in the fourth, a silky left-foot pass in the path of James Byrne, didn't even have to break stride, before running in and goaling.

I was there for that one - sensational atmosphere.

100% agree

I'd love the see Jericho get the nod but it is reasonably likely that Begley will get the nod after his reasonable perfomances in the snaffle and affle this year. I'd rate him about 60% chance. With Jericho a 30% chance.

Stevo and Watts will need more time unless Craigy wants to go with another tall to strech Melbournes ordinary defence.

i would love to see lads get a chance this season to see if he can still play AFL, but really, his SANFL form in the past 2 weeks hasnt done enough to warrant selection

Agreed, I reckon if Skippy had got injured 2 weeks ago Lads would have come in for sure. Unfortunately, his last 2 matches in the SANFL haven't been great.
