Seeing as this "computer forum" has been overtaken by the CM (Championship Manager) craze, I thought I'd connect to the real nerds out there. With my low down on IE 6. Now, this has been around a few months yes, but it's actually not bad from a company that usually makes unstable crap. Works better for me than 5.5 did. Comments?

Agree with you there, i installed it and ive had practically no crashes at all

One crap thing about it is that images etc are reduced so they fit into one page?? And when you move the cursor over the image you can resize it??

Other than that, in regards to reliability its quite good (so far) ;)

Its quite a stable browser now. I first tried it out when it was first released ... and it was 'the pits'. But as they came out with updates ... they seemed to have fixed a vast majority of the bugs. Problem with installing a new browser when it comes off beta .... is that it's not supported yet.

But yeah ... in the early years of my internet 'career' (1996 - 1997), Netscape rocked (as Microsoft didn't actually HAVE an internet browser) ... but now ... IE sh*ts all over Netscape. Netscape is way too hardware intensive. I guess that's because it is a separate program, whereas IE is written into the operating system.

does anyone notice how they make the major advancements though when they only update the version number like 5.0 to 5.1, 5.5 etc and they hardly do as much to it when it became version 6?
but yeah, like everyone else, havent had as many problems with it. its integrated well with xp and runs very, very smoothly on my system:)
personally i dont mind that it resizes the images after a picture has been downloaded, its a nice little feature in my opinion

Bug fixes, certian new html code that can be added to control window layout etc. Nothing to drastic.

Netscape has gone down hill. I don't think I'll ever use it again. The last decent version was 4.5.

LOL

I got a classic the other day.

The old interent explorer used to just stuff up and close. But the other day, IE6 stuffed up, and it came up with a message.

It said something like, IE6 has had some technical difficulties, please restart hte program, we are sorry for an inconvenience

LOL

I've had that one a few times already. Even when you don't want IE to close it still does. It seems old habits die hard for MS products.

I can see how most people would not classify IE 4 as being a web browser

4.78 was as good as it got, everything released under 6.X has been a total dog. Which is a pity, cos I enjoyed not using MS goods :)

Sorry I'll sclarify that. I meant Communicator 4.5, which had 4.7+ with it, as well as the Html editor, newsgroup reader. It wasn't bad. Infact, it shat all over IE. But know, it's reversed.

I downloaded MSN Explorer ages ago and that has so far, worked really well. Very easy to work with and you can set up your own personal account (Good for those who share computers).

IE 6 is worse the any other version of IE to date...

and they all sucked **** too anyways....
buggy...slow.....and full of security holes....

go with a better a browser such as opera or mozilla

I use to use them. Although seeing as though Mozilla is practically netscape and Opera can't handle pages that well, what's the point. Had no problem with IE 6 yet.
