Who is everyone with and what plan are you on?
I am with Bigpond and it sucks. It's wireless broadband, it's **** compared to ADSL. They charge $45 for 1GB yet before moving I was on ADSL for a little more $ but a heap more GB. Makes no sense. I am thinking of changing providers because as it is with 1 GB I can't download things at all, its just enough for general web surfing for a month.

you pay a lot more for the wireless broadband... the purpose of it is for people who work on the road, or travel a lot can have internet access wherever they go... if you're just using it at home it's probably not suitable...

I'm on the same plan but pay $30 a month - they had a special on a while ago for half price and i ain't ever changing it!!!

its a very good plan, good value for money, plus we have more then one computer that runs from that connection which works out well

Iam with Optus, they are shithouse. We pay like 40 bucks for 2 gig, 4 gig off peak. This is bullshit, and we have to pay line rental every month it seems.

That is why it is called monthly line rental.

Are you sure they didn't mean that it was charged every month but there is the option of paying those charges quarterly?

Well, I dont know. But my mum thought that she only had to pay the line rental every 3 months like they said at the start of the contract. Then she got another huge bill because of line rental - just a month after she paid line rental.

We pay $53 a month with Telstra for unlimited broardband.

Fast and no problems.

Got a stramge deal with a 2 way satellite dish. They aren't charging for the excess so we are getting unlimited reasonable standard broad band for $30 a month.

$30 is supposed to get you 0.5 gig a month with the excess at 8 cents a mb. Which wouldn't be all that good. But while it is 30 bucks unlimited, it's great.

Presume the company (activ8) is not loosing on their satellite rental by not charging the excess.

The best value at the moment would be TPG and DODO, ADSL 2+ seems the way to go as well as it is cheaper and way faster than ADSL, so if you are eligible go for that.

Sorry, this is bad advice. TPG are an average ISP. But dodo are pathetic. They offer 'cheap' ADSL2+ with such small data quotas that you can literally go through it in 15 minutes. Internode are the way to go for those of you who can connect.

Started off with dodo for broadband, who where quite good in the beginning, but towards the end, speeds where like dial up. Recently changed over to AAPT just before their plans changed and am very happy..

TPG is very good value, but it has persistent problems at 1.30-3am. Plus they went down for an entire day not so long ago.

I'm with them at the moment, and I'm not planning on switching since I love having generous d/l limits...but it's not perfect.
