Hey fellow Cats fans

Looking to travel interstate for the first time this season for the midseason fixtures to Sydney 22nd June and Gold Coast on 8th July

Haven't done much travelling in the past so i'm wanting to work out how to go about it. Do I contact the club to arange flights, accommodation and tickets? or can I go through a travel agent or have it done online? if so what are some good agents and websites if people can recommend one.

Also once i'm there where is a good place to meet fellow supporters? looks like I might be going up alone so don't want to just hang around by myself pre and post match or during the match for that matter :)

anyway if you can help woud be much appreciated

Cheers and GO CATS!!!

In the past couple of years I've tried to get to one interstate match a year (coincidentally, Gold Coast last year and Sydney in 2010).

Buying flights online these days is so easy. Websites like Webjet will find you the cheapest flight on any day you want.

Every stadium tends to have different ticket sale details, and so it's good to find out when certain tickets go on sale and through which outlet (Ticketmaster, Ticketek etc.). Depending on the stadium you may need to get in quickly (say at Subiaco).

Having said all this I think the club also puts on buses for certain interstate trips and maybe more, however I've never looked into those.

I also go to one or two interstate games per year usually Adelaide, Syd and Brisbane. This year I am off to the Gold Coast game on July 8th. Don't forget this game is on in the school holidays in Victoria so there will be demand for flights and tix. Try www.iwantthatflight.com.au ( try brisbane or gold coast) and wotif.com.au for accomodation. If you want to rent a car try www.vroomvroomvroom.com.au. Hope this helps giggler!

Wonder if the Cats will follow last years successful ploy and fly direct to the Goldie from their interstate game in Adelaide(last year Perth)for a bit of R&R and some sunshine. Not that the weather in Sleepy Hollow isn't loverly in July.:D:D

Heading up to the Gold Coast again this year. I went up for the game last year and spent a relaxing week up there - low 20's in late May, very nice.

I'm doing a road trip this year. I wanted to do something different and see parts of the country I haven't seen before. Might mean less time on the GC, unfortunately.

But for a first timer, do your own flights, just go to one of the many websites around to find the best deal or just visit the airline sites directly.

Accommodation is the same, shop around, although expect to pay more than usual considering it's school holiday time when the Gold Coast game is on. Where you want to stay is up to you - we stayed in Broadbeach last year and will probably do the same this year. There are a wealth of options around.

Tickets - visit the Suns official site for links to ticket websites. I think Ticketmaster cover Metricon Stadium games. There were designated areas for Cat fans last year and I'd expect the same this year.

Last year there we plenty of Cat fans around and I'd expect this year to be no different. There was a bar opposite the main entrance to the ground (Metricon isn't well located pub wise) that had a band and cheap drinks before and after the game.

I do an interstate game at least once a season and it's always a good experience (well, except for a certain final in 2005). Perth is the only interstate trip I'm yet to make.

By yourself or with others, you'll have a good time.

thanks for the info guys much appreciated, I'll have a look at them flights sites and see how I go.

With accommodation I have never been to Sydney or the Gold Coast I don't need anything fancy as I would most likely be out and about and won't bring much probably just a backpack of cloths thats it. So I would primely just need a bed. looking at two nights for Sydney trip and three nights for Gold Coast trip. if anyone can save me the hassle and post a few cheap Hotels in both cities to look at would nice
thanks again

Yeah listen to the Catman he's right on the money, stay at Broardbeach, pre purchase your game ticket and take advantage of the free shuttle buses from Pacific Fair(Broadbeach) to Metricon and back. :footy:

Sorry to bump this thread but does anyone know when tickets to our Rnd. 7 game vs Adelaide at AAMI go on sale?
Checked Ticketmaster and Ticketek and go nowhere.

They will appear on the Adelaide Crows website about 1 month before the game. Here's the link. It will appear under tickets. When you purchase the tickets they will act as a free ride on the AAMI Park bus leaving the the CBD.

Thanks mate. Can't wait. Will be first experience of RAdelaide. From what i understand pretty much all Crows games are close to sell outs.

My mate and i are going to Geelong v West Coast in Perth in August.

I am wanting to get tickets with the Geelong fans, its way too early i guess but i dont wanna miss out as these games sell out quikcly.

Did anyone travel to the game at Metricon stadium last season?

I've booked airfares & accom (school holiday time, wanted to get in early!), but no tickets to the game yet, as I'm a bit confused

Should I chance it & wait to buy unreserved tickets, then sit in the bays allocated for unreserved ticket holders, or better to buy reserved seats?

If anyone can remember where the better seats were or how the view was where they sat, it'd be much appreciated :thumbsu:

That would be an awesome game to go to! Apparently (on afl website), tickets dont go on sale until the 30th July (seems a bit close to match day though )

I might contact the Perth Cats and see what they say, its a bit of a long way to travel for me to not get tickets hahaaha

This might help there are no bad seats at Metricon,I'd be happy to sit anywhere.

That sounds like a good idea-especially now that I've realized where you live  Good luck!

Thanks YPO, I've heard this from a few people now. Looking forward to the game & a bit of winter sunshine ;)

Also demand won't be as high for tickets as it was last year. The game will still eventually get close to a sell out.

Last year we got tickets in the second tier behind the goals and they were great seats!

Well since I missed out on the GF last year Ive decided to travel over to geelong for round 2, 3 and 4. Will be good to see the flag unfurled finally. Plus Round 1 is in Perth.

A month of footy coming up!

I went down to the last two unfurling of the flags, there a bit disappointing almost to the point of being shoddy.(my brother was involved in one):D
My suggestion to the AFL would be to give the premiers a rd1 home game this may help the occasion,as by rd4 most football followers have moved on to the new season.Except in the case of Hawthorn supporters who are stuck in 2008 poor souls.

Level 2 seats behind the goal are exactly what Ticketmaster are offering today!

I'll trust your advice & take them I think (they look good on the map too!)-thanks for the info :thumbsu:

Yes they are-last Friday IIRC (seems a bit early to me too!!!)

I was stressing cause I've already booked airfares & accom for a girlfriend & myself, & thought I may miss tickets being school holiday time when the game is on-all OK now :thumbsu:
