Very juicy indeed :D

Did you watch the sunday footy show too? They had both Gus and Gallop on and Gus absolutely hammered Gallop....very awkward:D

Well Gus was having a go at Gallop at how long it took for them to find out they breached the salary cap. He had a go at the salary cap system. It sounded almost as if he was defending the melbourne storm, making the point that Slater, Inglis, Cronk, Smith, Blair, Johnson all made their debut at melbourne and Melbourne should be rewarded for developing them(which I sorta agree with). Gallop responded with pretty much the same responses as he gave in the ABC interview. Gus kept interrupting him everytime though:D

Also just on the ABC. The NRL just had a hookup with the other 15 clubs boards and they unanimously agreed with the penalty dished out to the Storm. So along with Melbourne, that makes all 16 clubs in agreement.

See my "Salary cap idea" thread. :D

Yeah, Gallop's an idiot. It's blindingly obvious that the NRL's punishments weren't well thought out, and now he's in the position of defending them.

I wonder how one of those 15 clubs would feel if they were playing for a spot in the 8 in the final round and got beaten by melbourne. I agree with Sterlo this morning. The melbourne storm are going to field an illegal team all year and they could affect the outcomes of a lot of clubs this year, who finishes in 8 or the top 4 etc.

a quote from todays paper

Penrith's Mick Leary and Cronulla counterpart Richard Fisk have said they will not be upset if their clubs missed out on the finals by two points, despite losing close games to Melbourne this season;

Perhaps it would be more unfair if other teams got to play them sans 3-4 internationals or got 2 points for a forfeit.

When does it stop being an "illegal" team? Theoretically, if five years from now, the only player remaining of the current team is, say, Slater, is it still an illegal team?

Gus was mainly arguing there are deficiencies in this salary cap. He was arguing that it should be lifted, altered or whatever so that clubs should be able to hang onto players. That's all fine. I don't disagree with a lot of his arguments re: the salary cap per se (long service exemptions, marquee players etc)

The point he then went on to miss was the Storm as well as 15 other clubs signed off and agreed to THIS salary cap. That gave the Storm a significant advantage over everyone else when they went ahead and cheated the cap. He was using the salary cap inadequacies to justify Melbourne's behaviour, which is what Gallop had the issue with.
