Montagna is invisible.
Nearly every week I watch the Saints play and I hardly ever notice Joey.
Yet at the end he has racked up bags of posessions and disposals.
I honestly cannot tell whether he was good, bad, or indifferent against the Cats. Given that most of the players did not get anywhere near this much of the ball I have to assume he was good.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Yep.

The new Monty and Dal models are a lot harder to spot and assess.

But it's like Lenny in a way, who racks up clearances, tackles and handballs under the radar sometimes.

I thought that Monty's kicking was a bit off, but then saw he had 20 kicks, 8 inside-50s, 5 tackles, 4 clearances, and a goal.

Pretty good numbers.

But then you look at the 68% disposal efficiency, no bounces (even though it was wet you'd still think one of our key runners would have a bounce), 3 frees against, and only 2 possessions in the 1st quarter.

How do you assess that?

68% can go down to the conditions i think. He's a much better user than that. 5 tackles is a good sign 4 clearances is good considering we had 27 in total. 8 inside 50's is very good out of the few we had. If we're not noticing him i think it's a good thing because he's becoming more inside

Others did not have the same problems - BJ 91% efficiency, Dal Santo 88%, Sam F 77%.

Monty's kicking has been patchy all year in a variety of conditions. We need more from him (skill-wise) if we are to challenge better teams.
