...Man; I thinks the FTA networks really missed the boat with this one. A great start tonight to a show the FTA networks turned their noses up at. Mig from Australia you may remember him from such TV shows as The Ratties on the ABC, and Grease the Mega Musical, where he starred alongside Natalie Bassingthwaite (Izzy from Neighbours, Lead singer with Rogue Traders on Voodoo Child...) Well, I thought he really chose the wrong song, with his Savage Garden voice, really didn't hit the song but...the crowd loved it and were rocking with it...

1 down 14 more to go...

All the info;

INXS Rockstar - FOX8

Your thoughts...I loved it, another Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice) classic in the making...

Yeah i really hate reality shows but that was good, The one that went she deserved to go my god was she bad. i predicte at the moment ty and Brandon to be the winners but this is only after 1 episode.

I have every INXS album and I have mixed feelings on the whole concept.

I haven't got FOX so cant comment on that.

ACDC replaced Bon Scott and they kicked on...but the biq q is whether or not someone, anyone can replace Hutchence and the writing b/w him and Andrew Farriss. Who knows?

It's a really bad idea in my opinion, and will more then likely not turn out good.

Depends on who they choose really - some of them seem very talented while others look better from a marketing standpoint.

The problem is even if you do get someone really good from this they will probably dump the band if they go really well so they can get more money or something.

Jordis and MIG - the aussie - were best tonight.

Bloody Fox8 keep cutting over Brooke Burke to give the Australian number to vote, most irritating thing ever in a tv show.

FOR GODSAKE FOX8 YOU CANNOT CUT BROOKE BURKE OFF!

I'm really, really enjoying this show.

Agree I love Jordis but not sure if she'll be right fronting INXS.

My early favourites for the gig are Mig and Ty

Yeah, I should have been a bit clearer Roobunny - Jordis and Mig are favorites in a likeability sense, rather than a betting sense.

It's hard to picture any of the 13 remaining out front of INXS, not through any lack of talent, but just because Hutchence was inherently the frontman (frontperson!).

I've also gotta say, I was never really a huge INXS fan, so I can enjoy the series without any emotional attachment to, or bitter ownership of, the band's past.

This might be very different predicament for me if Dave was doing the same thing for a new lead vocalist for Janes Addiction! I'd possibly struggle with that concept, such is my love of Janes ...

This show blows.

Michael Hutchence would be rolling over in his grave. Can't believe INXS would sell out their lead singer for a quick buck.

The level of talent is appalling....maybe the other band members have a clause in the contract which allows them to dump the best of that bunch after they release the first single.

INXS sell out?

INXS sold out way before the death of Hutchence, buddy. By all means continue to enjoy their back-catalogue of music, however if you believe a band like INXS were anything but a huge (and, I concede, hugely successful) commercial venture even with Michael at the helm, then you're either very naive or seriously suffering from denial. Let's face it, Hutchence didn't start dating Kylie at her commercial peak merely for her cute arse.

With all of that in mind, I can enjoy INXS Rockstar just like I can enjoy The Apprentice or Survivor ... it's clearly a marketing ploy on the part of the band just like all of the rest of the gimmickry the mainstream music or TV industries come up with to sell their product.

So, either do a better job at disguising your pretentiousness on the issue and overcome you're romantic but misguided belief that the mainstream music industry isn't one large commercial venture, or don't watch the bloody thing and convince yourself that the band officially pulled up stumps when Michael Hutchence decided to play Hangman in that infamous motel room.

I agree that many of these performers would struggle to fit the bill as a lead singer of INXS in the image that we have perceptually set - very few bands have ever succeeded either commerically or artistically with a new frontman after the departure of a longstanding lead singer. But if you reckon that someone like Jordis is an "appalling talent", then you need to do a sound check. She is unbelievable.

Ghost of Jim Jess

What did u think of the elimination show where both girls were eliminated?

I like the concept cos you are voting your favourite but at the end of the day INXS decided who they want.

A bit of a surprise, don't you think Paul. I wonder what motivated the decision, given that you would expect that the format of the show had been laid out pretty clearly prior to its appearance.

Does it also mean that one week we might get a non-elimination as there were no real shockers on that particular week?

I've heard that the US rating were not as positive as was initially hoped, so maybe the series has been truncated a little?

Anyway, the two chicks were both pretty ordinary prospects if you ask me (which I guess you did in hindsight)... and JD can consider himself mighty fortunate he survived the viewer poll.

JD doesn't seem well liked by the others. He really pushed to sing 'We are the Champions' and Jordis gave in and let him have it. During the week, he was trying to do a swap with her saying he felt guilty for taking it. She told him he could keep the song. She goes on to sing her song fantastically and he stuffs up 'We are the Champions'. When questioned about the arrogance of selecting that song, JD says he dedicates it to all of his fellow performers as they are all champions. The others were stony faced and shaking their heads as he had been trying to dump the song during the week. Then the week before he dissed them to INXS by saying that unlike the others he knows the INXS songs, he isn't just learning them. I liked him initially but I think he is a deceitful guy and the band can see that.

My favourite is Susie as she dodged a bullet in week one when she forgot the lyrics and since then has powered back. Great voice. Mig is the new favourite after last week. As long as the band is choosing, he can overcome the disadvantage of having a smaller band of countrymen phoning in for him.

What I don't get is that most (if not all ?) of the contestants are about 20 years younger than the band. So regardless of who wins, I have doubts about the singer and the band being able to colloborate well with each other and make the marriage a success. 2 decades is a big generation gap.

Having said that, I've been watching every week as I enjoy the feedback from the band. I don't think any of the girls will win it. Mig or Ty for mine.

Hi guys

Just got Austar and caught a couple of weeks of this awesome show. I was (and still am) a massive fan of this band.

I really like the guy with the mowhawk. They only chick who is worthy of singing with them is the dreadlocked one. She is awesome. When I saw here at first I thought 'NOT ANOTHER CASEY DONVAN!'. She rocks.

No chick should be the lead singer of INXS, It is wrong. Call me gender biased but it is seriously wrong!

what did everyone think of lasts nights show?

I thought that the guy on guitar was awesome. I also loved the 'Human Being' tattoos on the arms of JD

Yeah he is very solid player that gutiarist.

I really enjoyed his lead guitar during Layla last night, that is really difficult to play belive me. He has worked with many artists and he did some work I believe on the solo album of Richie Sambora and has also recorded in the past with INXS. He is probably most known as the previous lead guitarist for Pink

Has anybody being watching the leadups to the actual performances, if so what did you think about Ty crying and going on about how hard it is being the only Black person on the show etc etc.
I must admit I thought he got way worked up over the situation and others seemed fairly uncomfortable.

Some good performances last night and I think after looking in trouble that Marty has saved himself with his performance of Mr Brightside. I suspect that JD, Brandon and Jessica will be in the bottom 3 tonight.

The AUstralian guy will win it, simply for the fairy tale story it would make.
And because he has been the standout so far. .

As soon as my wife saw that she went 'What a water tanker!!!'. It is true that there is no black rockers but get over it.

Brandon went last night. He, Susie and the other hottie bottom 3 regular chick were in it. He got one of the more obscure songs comparatively and missed the odd lyric here and there. Susie rocked with Bitter Tears. Doesn't deserve to be in the bottom 3, she has a great rockers voice.
