iShit. How is that better than a netbook or laptop which you can put any game or program you want and has a full office suite.

Shinier. Easier to use. More mobile (and probably easier to type on if my netbook is anything to go by), especially with the 3G connectivity. I wouldn't get one, but then they're not aimed at me. The type of person they're aimed at has already dropped a hint that she wouldn't mind one for her birthday. :)

am i correct in no support for .avi?
i'd hate to use a keyboard and then have to touch the screen instead of using a mouse... and having the keyboard so close to the screen (if using the dock) could easily get frustrating and give a sore neck
3G options will be interesting here, will we have to get a shit nextG telstra plan or can we get prepaid like AT&T are offering?

DNW, but the i prefix will make sure it sells... just like the POS initial releases of iphone

The thing is huge you really can't take it to many places with you like you could with the ipod/iphone and it costs a fortune. She'd probably enjoy the iphone more I hear a new one with a better camera and processor and all that is getting released in a few months.

She's already got one. :P

It's not aimed at the laptop/netbook market. It's designed for mobile media and given that they've signed up the major publishers and will do the same with media outlets I think Jobs is onto yet another success. He realises it's about access to content.

The product is not just the device, it's the whole package.

The limitations in Australia will definately be our 3G costs.

Better to buy one when it costs less and when it fixes these things.

1. iBooks is initially US-only
2. No built-in camera
3. No USB ports
4. No memory card read
5. Keyboard dock sold separately
6. No multi-tasking
7. No Adobe Flash support
8. Can only run Apple-sanctioned apps
9. Can only access iTunes videos and music
10. Lacks HDMI port
11. Screen is 4:3 aspect ratio, not 16:9 widescreen
12. No full GPS support

No multi-tasking.

The thing doesn't even have a webcam. You'd think a screen that big would be perfect for webcam and chat.
