ipod shuffle - files load up in REVERSE order.

So I have a set of chapters from an audio book. I drag them across to the ipod shuffle but no matter which order I put them into the shuffle, they appear in reverse order.

I drag file 1 across, ok. Drag file two across, it appears above file one.

So I drag the last file across and then the second last. The last file appears before the second last.

I drag the whole list of files, they appear in reverse order.

Any help?

I don't have an ipod, so it may not have it, but isn't there a way to arrange your files in alphabetical order? Or by artist etc?

The only things i can think of creating this problem for the chief would be possibly the itunes software has the artist list highlighted and the order to sort ascending/descending is the wrong way around and wasn't initially noticed?

Or i think on some of the old ipod shuffles and things, there was a little switch on the back which would randomize/shuffle the songs, could that possibly be switched on?

Every ipod shuffle ever made has a "shuffle" switch. It is why they call it a 'Shuffle'.

In iTunes the files are in correct order. The file names start with numbers corresponding to the chapters of the book.

I load them in correct order, dragging them across one at a time and they appear in reverse order.

Has anyone else had this problem? I can't find it in Google so it is a long shot to post here but it is driving me spare. (Spare enough to card someone who screws around while I'm trying to work out how to fix it.)

Have you tried using a file tag editor?

Media Monkey or Tag & Rename are good freeware programs
