iPod Touch - 2nd vs 3rd Generation

I'm thinking of buying an iPod Touch, and weighing my options.

Is buying a 3rd Gen worth it for the price difference?
I don't even know the new features, please enlighten me

By the looks of it, I don't see why anyone would choose 3rd gen over 2nd gen:

I looked on the weekend at some. First store i went to had no idea what i was talking about when i said 3rd generation, i walked out empty handed. Drove around a bit more till i found a geek who knew what he was selling, he basically said the processor of the third is slightly faster and the big ones have the voice recognition which didnt interest me. I ened up getting an 8gig which they had 2 side by side with a $1 price difference . According to the geek one was the second gen and one was the third. No ive got no idea what i have actually bought because theres is nothing written anywhere to tell you what gen it is.

There is no 8GB 3g touch. The 8gb's just come with the new 3.0 firmware now.

I dont know if this is firmware or not but on the about screen under the settings menu there is a bit that says version and this one has 3.1.1 dont know if that clears anything up.

thing is, you can upgrade your gen2 to firmware 3.1.1 so apart from that they are identical......except with the 3rd generation release, they included at 64Gb model.

says on the link that the processors and graphics are different. It also says that the 2g outlasts the 3g by 6 hours of audio listening time....
