A few questions:
- How do they go through home speakers?
- Ditto for the car radio?

Does this seems like a good deal?

I had a similiar thing for the car in my old beetle. The iTrip has a small FM antenna that broadcasts and your car stereo picks up the signal. It sounds the same as a normal FM radio station.

Not sure about the home signal though. Wouldn't be top drawer quality although I am assuming that one.

Here's how it works....

The deal comes with a device called an iTrip which is an FM transmitter, that is how it works with the car radio or any other radio for that matter.

As for the stereo connection it is simply a cable kit that provides RCA connectors to enable it to be connected through a free AUX input or CD input etc, which ever is free.

I've heard decent things about the iTrip. It's powered from the iPod, so no need to worry about batteries. The sound quality is also alright apparently (I've never used one myself). Of course when you're talking about this size transmitter, you're likely to get better and more stable results from a cassette adapter (or better yet, a line in into your car stereo)

Line out from the iPod's dock into the AUX line in of a stereo will be as good as you get.

The iPod is a great little device - I'm seeing more and more of them around now too :D

iTrip

Yes the quality from them is pretty darn good - we received a shipement of them today and have tested them with a car radio, and two different high-end FM tuners/sound systems. The sound is as good as FM gets.

And yes a cassette adapter could possibly sound better, but certainly no where near as convenient with a cable attached....

WHAT IS THE PERFORMANCE LIKE THROUGH A SET OF SPEAKERS?

Like, could you play it at a cafe/restaurant and get good, crisp sound? I'm sick of ruining cd's or losing them. This seems like an answer, as opposed to a Nightmoves system, which is $6000.

What does it sound like?

Honestly the average person would be hard pressed to tell the difference between an iPod and a CD in terms of audio quality. And in the situation to which you refer, they would never tell!

If you like come in to our store and have a demo as we have a very good sound system in here for that very purpose.

Funny cartoon, but let's not forget that CD Walkman can play oh, 10 to 15 songs. An iPod can play 10,000! :)

I've probably only listened to 10,000 in my whole life, and I reckon 80% would be rubbish.

I think I'll just change CD's thanks.
