Iran Conflict 2019 - ??

Iran and China can play a dangerous but ultimately very successful game here.

Squeeze the US economy hard enough to provoke the downturn that ensures Trump is not reelected.

But they gotta ensure it doesn't allow the US to start a short bombing war that gets him reelected.

Ramping up the oil price is a good way to do this.

The attacks on the tankers in the gulf is escalating things. Were not at a tipping point, but we are getting close

China are net importers of energy, especially petroleum. The US? Not so much.

This is Trumps Gulf of Tonkin handed to him on a platter.

Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.

Yeah, but his base is virulently anti-war.

One salvo of missiles after a "gas attack" is the limit they can handle.

Americans in body bags, nah, nah.

Not sure about this - Trump has shown to be the master of zero accountability and his base love it. Hard to see them move away if the conflict doesn't go to plan (which it won't).

China has rare earths. And they can wear an enforced downturn longer than the US can they don't have elections.

You think it's not Iran? I'm no trump lover, but they wouldn't be stupid enough to fake evidence to start a war again

Australian petrol prices to rise? Example of fossil fuel reliability and efficiency?

In the Gulf...

I'm struggling to think of a war the yanks have started where they haven't used fake evidence.

Fair point, but they would have to be friggin morons to want to start a full blown war with Iran. And it will be full blown, because good luck keeping Israel quiet once it goes hot

Ummm, it is their standard practice.

Ummm, it is their standard practice.

But they are still dealing with the WMD Iraq blowback domestically and internationally.

As with Vietnam, it takes a generation to ignore the mistakes of the past for this scale of invasion
