Is Lime Wire Safe?

Rather than downloading music off iTunes (which is a rip off). I was wondering if you would recommend Lime Wire. Or any other music downloading software. Which is not just free but safe of giving your computer any errors.

Limewire's great and the fastest option for individual tracks. Don't click on those fake wma files of about 100kb though.

Torrents for albums, though. Torrentspy.com, at least until the MPAA or MRAA or whoever get their way.

limewire pro is the only option if you MUST get limewire, however i have downloaded 6 albums the past two days off Soulseek. best program esp for full albums and for finding music that isn't mainstream

LimeWire = absolute shit.

Soulseek is the best music program - no spyware or adware, uses little memory and is simple to use, but has a few useful features. The songs are always high quality and never corrupted or contain viruses like on LimeWire. It's great for full albums too, although BitTorrent is just as good.

Limewire is great of you're computer literate. There are hundreds of fakes so you have to check the files bitrate, size and usually ensure the tag is complete to be sure. But it's not that hard.

It's not hard to fish out which files are fakes, but seriously, why go through that shit when Soulseek has songs ordered by folders (albums) and has higher bitrate songs available? On LimeWire the songs usually don't have album artwork or even the correctly listed Artist/Title when you look at them through iTunes. And when you search for the song "Strawberry Fields Forever", don't be surprised if a result comes up for a Rolling Stones version.

limewire is definitely not safe. make sure you use peerguardian or something to protect yourself from being tracked. though being in australia we're less likely to be busted, better to be safe than sorry.

oh, and re: torrentspy; i read somewhere that they've agreed to pass on their website records (ie. who's downloading what torrents) to one of the american media corporations (the mpaa, i think it was). so, be careful getting stuff off their too. i use it to search, and then get the actual torrent file from elsewhere.

If you want to use Limewire, just use Frostwire. It's essentially Limewire before all the corrupted files got into it.

You can download it if you have a mac or a pc, so thats pretty good. I downloaded it. Look download everything you want, all at one go, put them on cds and then delete limewire and all the songs of your comp. Believe me, before i had limewire my computer was going fine but when i got limewire it has been playing up.

I use both Limewire and Bittorent.

Limewire - I use it to download usually just individual songs, music video clips and the occaisional porno. its quick and easy to use but is pretty limited in its features and what is available.

Bittorrent - Is great, i use it to download full albums of music, folders of music, my weekly fix of Prison Break and Lost and downloading movies. You do have to know what you are doing more when you use a program like this and is pretty annoying having to go to the internet and finding the torrent, then getting it into Bittorrent

When doing a search with limewire pro never choose the first 5 or 6 options. They are always crap.
Go down the page a bit and you wont have too many problems.
For getting singles then limewire pro is fine.

If you actually like music then you will have to get soulseek.
Soulseek have no crap on it at all. Only problem I have with Soulseek is actually getting what i want in the search. I have only had this problem since upgrading. The old system was so much better all round. Everyone is so cautious these days. It's a damn shame.

Torrents sound like something I will have to do before the year is out but I am holding off as long as i can.
Torrent sites give up their users so I'm not feeling to safe with them.

Whatever you do ,do not use Bearshare or Bear Flix or anything with Bear in it's name. Absolute rubbish sites that will kill your computer.
