Is Newy Cooked?

The form of our captain seems to be on the slide. His kicking has been off nearly all season, he doesnt seem to be getting to the footy at all.

I know he is one of our few experienced players but maybe for 2013 he needs the tap on the shoulder and be told he isnt a guaranteed starter anymore.

He has been a very good player for a long-time, and we'd all like him to get a final, but maybe his time is just about up and we are more likely to get there without him.

yeah i agree, maybe another role ie lead up fwd. not influencing games much these days.

I reckon he should give Cotch (or Lids) the captaincy next year which will hopefully free him up a bit. Still has 1-2 years left I reckon

Hasn't seemed quite right to me all season. Did he have a full pre-season? Is he carrying an injury? Maybe it's time we look to play on the HFF or FP.

Ease up the guy had a knee to the head with blood coming out last week He is always a guaranteed starter and we need his experience. Having said that stepping aside as capt next year will probably happen.

He is certainly on the decline. Our bottom 5 isn't yet good enough to not have him in our best 22, however I don't think the day is that far away. He is slows these days and his left shoe is not what it was. I wouldn't have thought he would be suited to a forward role though.

Is very slow - both physical speed and reactions. two kicks smothered today.

Still worth a spot and obviously well respected, but now needs to be protected a bit on the field.

Reduced output is probably a mixture of being another year older and, probably for the first time in his career, getting tagged. Has been tagged a lot this year.

Newy has been bloody awesome for us and it's time to hand over the reins to the Cotch so Newy can concentrate on his final 2 seasons and help us win a flag in2014

As amcre says we don't have the depth to lose experienced players like Newy. Give it to 2014 and he will no longer be a walk up starter.

I reckon he's lost confidence , i dead set cringed in the last quarter when he jibbed a marking contest with Petrie who was one on one with Rance . Clearly should have been third man up but did a "Turtle" and avoided the contest .

Dont know if anyone else noticed it but stood out like dogs balls to me

Yeah I noticed it too, the wife at the time said Petrie is killing Rance, I said Newman should have gone in harder in that contest he was in perfect position to spoil the ball.
