does anyone rate him? yes for that price he is worth it? BUT saints have played nobody and there's a few backmen to come back into the line up.
i haven't been following him that closely. will he keep an avg over 90pts for the whole season?

it's either i trade maleceski for drummond and have petrenko on field or s.hill for gilbert and keep maleceski and put petrenko on the bench?

bit of a pickle

He's not going to continue averaging 114.

He's been backing himself in marking opposition kicks and running off the oppositions 3rd tall for handball receives so he won't score well against the better rotating/disposing teams

The one thing he's not doing currently is giving away frees, as for players coming back, he's safe because of his pace.

Good buy at 300k, average buy at 400k.

I rate Houlihan ahead of Gilbert as a potential keeper for the season.

For mine Gilbert is a tease, I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but IMO there is no way known he will avg 90 for the season, will be lucky to have another 2 games over 100.

thats what im hopeing cos i think i will get drummond! there's no risk besides injury there. if he plays he will score 90+. i found out that the last 2 times drummonds played magpies he's been injured before halftime haha and he's highest score against them is 68.

I was a week late getting him and it cost me an extra $71K but happy with his 112 tonight

I know it's only Freo tonight but hopefully he outscores Raines and Houlihan for the rest of the season and make it a worthwhile $71K investment!

Very tempted to trade Malceski out for Gilbert in.

Malc is playing a different role which doesn't auger well for large scores whereas Gilbert plays that running back role, not to mention the Saints are really sharing the ball around a lot.

He was good running out of the backline, but it's not like Freo really put any pressure on opposition teams. Will be interesting to see how he goes against Port and Bulldogs who both have good forward line pressure.

I am regretting my Houlihan purchase already, but against Sydney you know anything can happen.

There was a Hurn vs Gilbert thread which had a lot of people choosing Hurn before Rd 3. I went with Gilbert because I like players on winning teams and the more St Kilda I can get the better this year it seems. Then Hurn came out and got a 60, while my man Gilbert got 130 and continues to impress. Seems like he was the perfect trade for Raines.

there is talk about him going into the forward line as the 3rd/mobile tall when the other backs are ready to get into the side. I'm very happy for him to be in my side at present ......just a player taking the next step in his footy career. and giving me good SC points!!!

Having watched the saints live a few times already this year, i'm confident that his improvements are here to stay. He is bigger, stronger and seems to have matured heaps over the pre-season. His ability to read the play has improved out of sight. Will obviously throw up a few average scores this year, as most defenders do, but will score bigger scores more often then not!

he looks like a much improved player, and has found his niche down back at the saints, so i think will continue to average around 100 until at least halfway through the season, will be interesting to see whether he gets burnt out.

yeah i think i might get him this week, i went with maleceski for drummond last week and now i might go hill for gilbert. Ive seen enough of him now to think he is here to stay. and trading hill for gilbert isn't the worst thing to do. So it could mean an extra 70 odd points to my side each week.:thumbsu:

He's ruining Fisher's numbers :(

couldn't agree more. i have goddard and fish aswell, so if i bring gilbert in and saints have a bad week my team could be in a bit of strife!

i wish saints played a decent side cos then we would have a better idea of how good he is?

i have 2 options...

Gray or gilbert..More then likely gonna keep one of them for the rest of the season. Whats this i hear about gray being the next ablett? wtf?

Gilbert about a $470000 player which i am happy about as that makes him a keeper for me.:) i wouldnt get him at his price now tho.
