NZRL loses its shirt as company goes bust

By AARON LAWTON and JOHN MATHESON - Sunday News | Sunday, 08 February 2009

Sydney's Sun-Herald newspaper is today reporting the Australian division of International Sports Clothing which also supplies the Air New Zealand Cup's Manawatu and Bay of Plenty unions, six NRL clubs, Australian Super 14 franchises and two AFL teams has been placed in administration.

What does that mean for us?
Whats the bet it turns our 'projected 2009 profit' into a deficit.

I am not sure if they are a "sponsor" as such, I think they simply make our jumpers etc. Hopefully Nike or Adidas will jump on board.

Bring back Piping Hot!!!!

We'd be getting money from them surely. Isc is slapped around everywhere on our gear.
Best thing about this is we might land a known clothing brand for once. End of the era of crappy clothes sponsors. Bring on teh Nike.

In this time of global financial crisis pwrhaps we should be looking to go Oz-made/owned for clothing? I think it'd look good for PR

However, is there even an oz owned clothing company left?

Good thing I didn't buy this years jumper or some other ISC stuff, especially since whoever our new supplier is will surely bring nicer and more stylized products, Nike or Adidas would be fine with me.

I think King Gee is still an Australian made/owned clothing company. Not sure about having our players running around in Industrial overalls and workboots though. It might slow them down a bit.

Ah funny you say that Bornsaint. Now im not one to lie. Would never take you guys for a ride. BUT. I have it on good authority from a very reliable source i cannot name, that Dimmeys and Forges are in the wings waiting to pounce on a very lucrative deal. Sorry guys can't name the source. Should be confirmed on Wednesday after training. DONE DEAL! :thumbsu:

For 5.99, that's 5.99, they're just giving it away!

But if I can be serious for a second, would this mean that we could lure out Plugger to replace Dipper and give him the boot

Like these quality leather cross trainers for 19.95!

Well I guess there are a few comebacks :
* Richmond lost AFG as a major sponsor, and have gone for the gambling (great combination with their new recruit).
* Carlton has got into bed with Tourism Malaysia - geez that's going to help our economy and airlines - ta very much (and the intraclub is still good fodder).
* The Dogs will be eating Mexican food for a while, and those beans can be nasty after a couple of hours in the digestive system.
* Collingferal already sold out to Dubai years ago.
* Has Melbourne got a sponsor?
