ISP forgot to cap net?

I am not a massive user, and only have a 10 gig a month plan with People Telecom (shut up). I have gone over on a few occasions though, and my speed is always reduced to dial up. This month, I have downloaded 20 gig, because I realised that I had gone over early in the month and they didn't do anything about it.

Can they just forget to slow it down, or is there someway around it?? I am enjoying it though.

Yeh, it really is up to them to cap it. And i think in the terms it says "your speed may be reduced"
Obviously they forgot.

They changed last month to charging for excess usage at 25c a megabyte.

You may want to check what plan you are on as most of them have changed in the last few months. I was on the 100g a month plan and got a letter from them saying they were reducing the amount I paid for it. I then checked their website and saw that I could get 200g for the same amount!!

That is for Telstra though? Having a look at that makes me realise how much i am getting screwed over on my plan. 59.95 for 10 gig?? Shiiiiiiit.

That actually happened to me for quite some time, in the terms & conditions it said you may be capped. Some months i would be capped straight away if i went over the 10gb limit, other months i wouldn't be and i'd go on my merry way and download an extra gb.... sometime 10-15 gb more than my usual allowance.

They changed the terms & conditions to you will be capped, and that ended my free reign.

However later on i discovered that their system was a bit off, they stopped counting the usage a day earlier than they should have.....thus i could go on a download spree the day before my usage REALLY reset itself back to zero and not be penalised for it (as in no extra charges, and what i downloaded was not added to the following months allowance quota). This was really good when i was capped, i'd be uncapped a day earlier, download massive amounts and not have the usage carry over to the next month.

They obviously fixed this a few months later, i was capped quite a number of times over the following months.

I've been on their 200gb plan since August, have used 41gb, 91gb and currently have used 61gb for this month.
