It’s time to introduce a red card for dirty acts.

If Cox had gone off with a concussion I’d say he’d deserve one.

It’s a football act and unlucky but just can’t do that
Punching someone in the head in a marking contest isnt a football act. If a scrimshaw gets 3 weeks for contacting with the inner arm trying to smother with an open hand, then surely lob gets at least 3 for punching cox in a careless spoil and connecting with cox's head wtih a fist.

There was no punch. He had an arm extended well before there was any collision for a spoil he would attempt 10 times a game. It’s a footballing act.

Should a player get suspended if he tries to take a hanger and knees his opponent in the head knocking him out cold?

He went to "spoil" sure. When i played i often went for the "spoil" and oops missed the ball.
Lobb looking right at the ball, arm conveniently not going at the ball.

I dont actually think he should be suspended, but if going by the MRO categories its high, careless, severe/high impact. if its severe impact then its 3 weeks.

I don't know if he will get suspended or not, but to say there was no punch is just ludicrous.

I’d say so.

Anytime someone gets knocked out you go off.

I chuckle a little when I read about "dirty acts" in today's game. Not sure how people would have handled footy in the 80s, which in terms of thuggery, made today's footy look almost timid :)

Some of the incidents we see these days are more a result of the increased pace of the game and players doing things under desperation rather than malice.

I say no red card, it hurts innocent teammates at the other end of the ground.

But I also say, Hawk players should be allowed to hit anyone they want, heh heh,
and be given 50m penalties in their favor every time they get a Hocking free kick,
I meant Hocking not shocking!

Just like those 18% interest rates. Eyeroll.

Hits are much harder given the size strength and speed of modern athletes. 192cm was a behemoth FF now that’s a midsize 3rd tall.

I hear drink driving and aspestos was also big in the 80s. Thankfully we don’t do that anymore either

He's not saying that at all.

He's simply saying that thuggery was far worse in the 80s (and 70s for that matter) than in the current game. In fact, there's no comparison.

Nothing to do with toughness.

Funny you mentioned "murdered" (ie death), a player in the VFL could easily have died due to a thug act in the 70s. You as a Collingwood supporter, of all people, should know that.
