...that we are stuck rebuilding for 25 years, and teams such as West Coast can be in the finals every year fairly much since their existence, and even more frustrating, that teams who have spanked every team in the league for half a dozen years can be back beating premiership contenders and looking very good for finals still with a strong influence from youth despite only having 1 year down. im looking at you brisbane, essendon and port adelaide.

now i know everyone will want to start blaming the culture, coach, drafting, arrangement of planets, etc., but if you look at the plain facts of where teams are going and where they've been, it is frustrating that our team has struggled for decades and others have dominated over that time with barely a spurt of mediocrity and are now back up there

It's strange how Richmond, Hawthorn and Carlton take 5 or 6 years of rebuilding while Brisbane, Port Adelaide and Essendon shoot up after only a year or 2 out of the 8. It must just come down to good recruiting and list management.

It comes down to good recruiting while they are still up the top, and the fact they still have a good group of core players from their time on top.

All of those clubs have elite senior players. Hawthorn, Richmond and Carlton dont, thats the difference. When Browny was firing at the start of 2005 we looked quite good, take him out and we struggle. Look what happened at Essendon last year when players like Lloyd and McPhee were missing. I dont think its the kids that have these teams firing at the moment, lets see how good Essendons current kids are when Lloyd, Fletcher, Hird are gone in a few years time.

Yes i agree totally with wat u guys are saying. And what frustrates me even more is Richmonds Game Plan.

All we need to do is run the Friggen ball. and kick it long to richo or whoever is up forward and have our crumbers like krakour, tambling etc kicking goals like they should be doing. instead we play the chipping game, kicking the ball the bare minimum to get yet another turn over.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
we need to play every game like we did against collingwood a few years back before browny broke his leg.. he kicked the 5 goals and this was done because the ball was moved quickly and kicked long into our attack everytime.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
im not to sure what others think. so my view could be completely wrong

:) YEP. We draft three million of the same type of player ..... that is mid-sized kids who like ti run ..... yet employ a game plan which fails to utilise any of that aforementioned run.
It's purely stop-start!!!!

We have too many kids to be able to run with opponents. If we try to make it a contest of stamina and fitness we will lose every game we play this season. We would have played into the Swans hands, been hands-on-knees by half time, and lose by 100.

So we have to have periods of slowing the game down, flooding back, being defensive. Then short-sharp bursts of one-on-one and attacking play. We have to be a counter-attacking team until we get the 100 games into our running players. Then we can take teams on for 120 minutes.

:) WEAVE old buddy....we have lost every game we have played this season! And will continue to do so if we play the brand of football we have been!!!
If we are going to lose, I'd like to see us all out attack and give me some value for my money, instead of leaving me frustrated by chipping more often than the American's President's Cup team!!!

Stamina and fitness???? What did we do all pre-season. This Top 15 Challenge was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread and the bar had been raised to a whole new level!! Pure bluff.....I think our fitness level is ordinary. Two straight games we haven't run the game out!!!!!!!!!

We've been competitive and a chance to win in both games this season. Coaches job to put us in a position to win. Player's job to deliver.

I'd prefer to go down by 2-4 goals and have had a lead some point in the second half. I don't want to see any more of those all-out attack 100-point drubbings.

Our fitness better might have improved, but it doesn't put us in the company of the veteran sides. We are fitter, but not fit enough.

Deledio, Howat and Foley might be our fittest - but they can't run with Kirk, Bolton and co who have 150 games in their legs.

You can't out-stay a team with 11 blokes in your team who haven't played 50 games.

Not when it is to Carlton.....a team WE SHOULD BEAT!!!! That was more like a capitulation!

We couldn't even keep up with lumbering old Spida Everitt. made us look silly. Fitness or lack thereof is no excuse for not manning up!

Not being critical of you old buddy, but it's just that I question why I go stand in the outer each week and watch us dish up a crap game plan that does nothing for me.
Yeah, yeah it's great when it works and give us a big win over Adelaide....but it has worked once in three years!!!
But I guess I resign myself to the fact it won't change..nor will the line-up. I look at that Coburg team and I just can't get enthused. Maybe Meyer excites me (if he pulls his finger out), probably Edwards and Connors but that's about it. Casserley, Oakley Nicholls, Hartigan, Jackson and the like, jut don't do it for me!!!

When we have players like Deledio, Tambling, Foley and Howat i dont understand WHY we arent playing Bulldogs football. And with such a good ruckman in Simmonds, it should simply be a case of; tap the thing, someone scoops it, someone kicks it, someone marks it.

If Wallace had stuck those kids in the middle right from the start of his coaching debut. They would right now be beauty kids. Instead, they are being wasted in the half back flanks, or forward pockets. While we persist with older and slower players like Tuck, Johnson and Coughlan in the middle. Make no mistake, these are good players. But they would be much more useful where Wallace is playing the kids, thats on the half back, or the wings. They have skill, but no speed. Let them be the start-up of our attacks, with their skills, they can easily set the play for the younger and quicker midfielders.

Get the bloody ball, run and kick it to the goalsquare where Richo is. If Richo marks, goal. If he dosent, tap the bloody thing down and let Browny or Krakouer pounce and kick a goal.

Thats how i think it should go anyway.

I know it's still early but I don't like the look of this.
