The one thing that we have improved on this year is actually winning games (the few we have) by setting oursleves up & going on with the job.
Geelong & West Coast - classic examples.
We havent been able to do this since 2001.
The win against Collingwood was superb, but this win today was even better.
There is no doubt the win against Collingwood would have been a significant factor in installing confidence & belief that these type of ugly scrappy wins are also achievable - even when we are the lesser side on the day.
We should have been smashed today.
Adelaide will be seething - they are a better side than what they showed & could have absolutely buried us twice during the match.
In fact this win had a lot of the 99 Prelim about it.
We looked like we were going to get "St. Kilda'd" again at 1/4 time, the second quarter was sensational.
All the same, the door was left open & the efforts of Campo, Fev, Bowyer, Teague, lappin in particular, (Whitnall, Morell, Stevens & Prenda - in patches) were brillant.
i think Campo in particular lead the way as a leader & its a shame that today was not his 200th game.
Carlton took a huge step forward today with what would be well short of our best listed 22 on the park.
We should be favourites against the Hawks & if we get over them, winning 2 on the trot will see us get on a little bit of a roll with sides like the Tigers to come in the upcoming weeks.
We should have an honest look at this game & see many positives & to come away with the win was a great reward for persistance & belief, but we were seriously outplayed in patches in this game & hopefully the next stage of our development wil be to control blow outs (or should I say the frequency of blowouts).
Great result & boy did we need it.
