Hey dudes.

So you know in iTunes when the actual file of a song is missing, and on iTunes it'll come up with a little exclamation mark in a circle saying, 'hey, dude, you're song's not where it should be!'?

Well. In the last couple of days I've noticed there's more of those little circles but the song is where it should be - I.e the directory hasn't moved but iTunes thinks it has.

Well today I woke up, did a search for the band 'The Smiths' and this is what I got...

So what the hell is going on? It's so ****ing annoying. I don't want to spend hours going through iTunes and finding the file for so many songs. :(

Wow, I didn't know iTunes was that intelligent.:D
It's trying to save you life, stopping you from slitting you wrists, tying a rope around your neck, or filling your face with sleeping pills. Take it as a sign, that iTunes has greater musical taste than you.:D:D

Who the hell are the smiths?

If you can locate your files just open them manually and itunes will automatically change its location of the files.

The files are in the right place already.
Of my 8000 songs, nearly 1000 are saying they are in the wrong place but the file location has not changed from what it already was.
Maybs this should be in the computer section.

Just re-add the directory where your songs are. It might take a few minutes, but it'll clean all them exclamation marks up...

Yep

It sometimes means that you didn't import those songs directly from the CD.

Sounds a bit weird. Have you moved the location of your iTunes Music folder at any stage?

Are all your song files stored in the one iTunes Music Folder? Assuming they are, what you could do is Export your library (under the file menu - well it is on Mac anyway) just as a backup, then select everything in the Music Library and delete it (Just delete the listing in the library, not the song files - Keep Files!). Then drag and drop your iTunes Music folder into the empty Music Library window. Your Music Library should now reflect exactly what's in your iTunes Music folder.
