I know that he has had 2 good scores, and he is highly rated as a future talent, but i havent seen much of Melb in the last 2 weeks.

Obviously he has injury concerns but his scores are certainly hard to resist.

From those that have seen the games, what have been your impressions of him? do you think that he is likely to continue being able to post good scores?

He's playing down back against the Hawks this week so he should see plenty of the ball :thumbsu:

It has almost got to the stage where you must get him. Almost every coach will pick him up this week and if he ends up averaging in the 90s and turns into a 7th back keeper for 188K then the coaches that didn't pick him up will be massively behind the 8 ball.

He is a ball magnet and has shown this with his preseason games.....so these 2 games were not a fluke. His injury is a massive worry.....especially given that it's his back and it will likely flare up at times needing rest. If you plan on getting him in you must have a decent emergency scorers in your backline..........the likes of Hurley or Broughton.

His position in the side is safe, even with the return of all the injured backs. Melbourne picked him up with a 1st round draft pick and rate him very very highly. With Melbourne's youth policy in full swing he will play every game barring injury.

The other crucial thing is that he has scored around 100 in two losing games. That is gold from a rookie. Usually rookies score shockingly in a losing side.

One important thing though, be careful about using him as a cash cow. He may get injured but more importantly looking at all of the rookie backs that have not yet made their debut this year.........all I can say that it's looking pretty terrible. Don't expect to be able to downgrade him to a back rookie in 8 weeks or so for another rookie who is likely to play games consistently and score relatively well. Hopefully a rookie back will come along and suprise us but it's not looking too good. Hopefully a small upgrade of Grimes to Hodge when he loses a bucket load of cash will be possible.

If you want a cash cow use Broughton, if you want an injury prone likely 7th back keeper go for Grimes.

I am getting Grimes in over Broughton despite it meaning that I am unlikely to be able to get Ablett back as easily.

Petrenko to Grimes makes sense without spedning any $$$$
Lucky to have kept Broughton on the pine and like the way he goes about it.

Im definantly going to get him, just not to sure whether i should get him for Suban or houlihan...

It makes sense if he could possibly keep up his current scores. but with Frawley and Rivers coming back is he still going to get so much of the ball?

FBD - They are like for like players, all have injury concerns, more upside to Grimes with his price and i cant see Rivers hitting any great heights always going to get the better forwards compared to Grimes. Thats what SC is about taking those risks on the 'potential' cash cows that allow you to get the premium when it counts

Grimey is a beast. The risk is not whether he'll score points - it's whether he can stay fit. He's miles ahead of other players at that price in scoring potential.
Thats the only thing thats making it hard for me to go for Grimes atm as opposed for Broughton. He is injury prone but he looks as though if fit will keep his spot in the side all year whereas who knows whether Broughton may get dropped in a 3 or 4 weeks time

I have a lack of cash cows atm, to a fault of my own as I've a big early trader. I need one more upgrade. Andy Otten...

Im thinking Hurn to Grimes, Otten to Judd.

Leaves my midfield looking pretty.

Bartel Kirk Judd Murphy Selwood Dal Santo

backs will be Hodge Goddard Drummond Gilbert Chad P Burg Grimes

Rucks Hmac Petrie

Forwards Pavlich Goodwin O Kefee Franklin SJ McGlynn

With 9 trades left.

Decided that the potential benefits are outweighed by the inevitable loss of 2 trades.

If i am wrong and he's stays fit then it wont make or break anything anyway.

He has shown a total inability to even carry a niggle. Even a corky is 4 weeks for this bloke.

It is a high risk/high reward scenario. Looking around the forums and talking with people it seems that almost everyone will bring in Grimes this week.....especially considering Broughton got dropped.

If he doesn't get injured then he has a great chance of turning into a 7th back keeper and for 188K that is absolute magic.

I plan on keeping him and if he stays fit he will make a lot of money.....then trade him for Hodge as he should drop to around 400K.

What do u guys think of him at $306k? At that range he still seems the best option with Malceski and Nicoski  the other 2 at $300 and under. Or Hurley but i believe he's still a few weeks away.

Haven't seen a lot of him to be honest (Though I do have him in my SC :D) but Demons supporters are HUGE wraps on him. He was touted as being the best young back man in the comp during the preseason and looking at his scores, he hasn't let anyone down. There's probably still value in him from a SC perspective but Broughton maybe better value as a potential cash cow now Grimes has gone up so much.

I wouldn't go near Malceski at this point and I love the guy. I wish he was playing better but ATM, he's a complete dud as far as SC goes.

The only concern with Grimes is the injuries. He carried one into the season and being a 1st year he's susceptible to a recurrence. A calculated risk.

I've taken both Grimes and Broughton as my 7th def/cash cow for later trade (Got them at their opening price). Figure at least one of them has to play each week.

Still worth it. The kid is a gun, but this is the last week to get him. He'll 400K+ before ya know it.

and will get plenty of time to dispose of it......
