If Carlton are open to offers, surely they ask for two first rounders as a starting point. For a dude who turns 29 this year.

You'd have to be pretty confident your list is only one elite key defender away from contending for the next five years to make it worthwhile.

Not sure North are there yet. Darling and Parker are nearing the end. McDonald too. Still don't have a proven elite small forward either.

carlton couldnt sign quick enough
Thats the point, needs to be something that Carlton would do. Weitering would be perfect fit at North and make them ready to contend you would think with there mid and fwds they have

FOS is the last one of their mids to go on the table tbh. Hes worth a lot more than Weitering

Hmmm.

With our 2026 and 2027 first rounder picks, I could go...

1) Wilson + Butts + 1st rounder we could put towards either one last high draft pick, or a pre-agent like Ash or Scrimshaw

or

2) Just Weitering

In which case, I'm going with option a, thanks Eddie.

If we could somehow get some draft capital for Zurhaar or Powell, and add that to a single first rounder, I'd be okay with that as package with Weitering.

But our list needs more than just a single key defender. So burning multiple firsts, like we're already ensconced in the pointy end of September alongside Sydney, Geelong or Brisbane, seems a bit premature.

Reckon he stays now. Didn't get along with Voss and is contracted for 5 more years.

If he did leave we'd ask the world. Similar to Merret/Curnow offer last year. We'd want 3 first rounders or 2 top 10 picks.

Agree generally, a club would have to pay double or more of his value to get him out. Mature spine is incredibly important to a rebuilding side.

Just depends whether they want to go the Richmond route or not. Realistically if they did he'd only get them a 1st and a future 1st at absolute most, so they would rather not.

Yep spot on. Hard to see him leaving. He seemed pretty categorical in his interview today about staying and being a one club player. You don't hear that kind of wording all that often and he's notoriously knocked back bigger offers to stay. He's literally the last player on the list that would move unless we push him I guess but stranger things have happened. Cripps on the other hand.. gut feel he moves to a contending team and can't deny the guy that move. Has given his all for the club.

Norths two first rounders will be difficult to turn down for Carlton given their situation.

I guess its up to North and whether they actually offer that or not. They could probably get Butts for Powell and change so that might be the cheaper option.

Theres no way he is worth that.

The Barrass trade is the yard stick here. Think North offer two firsts and Carlton will probably take it.

Weitering is 29 at the end of the year, North are improving but still a couple of years away from really contending imo.

The Doggies seem a better fit as they are cotending for the here and now with their list.

3 firsts is laughable, come on mate.

If the rumours are true about Butters they would have to trade a star to get the draft capital for Weitering.

After King moved on Trac and Oliver a new coach might do the same at the Blues with players that have draft capital. No one expected the Dees to be 6-3 after losing 2 of their best players.
