On the bright-er side, it’s gone from being majority old deadwood getting delisted to mostly failed or average young players.Grim.
Looking at that list Hopper would be a good get both for midfield balance and experience especially if Yeo misses games through injury. Graham is also a player that has had alot of soft tissue injuries throughout his careerJust this offseason it’s possible we have up to 13 spots across all 3 types of list spot
That there is a bigger problem in a way when the younger recently drafted kids are not making the gradeOn the bright-er side, it’s gone from being majority old deadwood getting delisted to mostly failed or average young players.

Thankfully none especially key. Barnett is a big failure as a good young ruckman would be huge right now. That there is a bigger problem in a way when the younger recently drafted kids are not making the grade
Very different player to Dev & Graham who are defensive running mids where hopper is more a ball winning mid in the middle but he would be a good player for the eagles as the the player that would get it to Reid/Duursma and add inside depth cheap. As i mentioned he would have already been paid most of his money from Richmond and would probably sign with a new club on a 3 year $1.2 mil deal
The pick it would cost wouldnt really be a factor
Really we were not joking with txbyhullJokes aside he would help firm up the Eagles and add depth.
A pure inside mid though. Geez. That's something the Eagles never do.
Hence why our midfield is so shallow and Hopper would actually improve depth. And he would definately help supporting the kids in the WAFL.
Honestly reckon you’d struggle to even get that. Clubs know that if he leaves it’ll be the Tigers pushing him out to play the kids + he’ll want big moneyWe'll take a future 3rd
Yeah but is he as good as Sam BerryActually one of Richmonds top 5 players on talent so wont leave.
Wont need to do a salary dump as there wouldnt be much left to pay on his salaryWhat do Richmond gain from this? Who the hell are they paying that they would need to do a salary dump. The guy is a model citizen as well.

what Richmond would gain is a nothing pick but more allowing the kids to play in the position
Players like McAuliffe , Lalor , Cumming and hopefully Smillie next season will be looking for game time
Its all speculation for now but i would doubt he would want to play VFL and may need to find himself a club if he wants to leave. So it's just a list spot? If he's been front loaded I don't know why you wouldn't just play him in VFL or as depth unless a club pays a reasonable pick.
I'd have suggested it would be him wanting to leave in that caseSo it's just a list spot? If he's been front loaded I don't know why you wouldn't just play him in VFL or as depth unless a club pays a reasonable pick.
He had a good season last year.Actually one of Richmonds top 5 players on talent so wont leave.
The game has completely moved away from the type of player Hopper is. I'd be surprised if there were any takers. Richmond would have to do a Bowes type deal to get rid of him and unlike the GC they don't need to force him out because of the cap so they wouldn't do it.
What's he worth? Don't all rush in at once![]()
Tom Morris said last night that "Jacob Hopper is absolutely gettable". Contracted for 3 more years after this one. I imagine if he was keen to pursue a trade that we'd gladly facilitate it. I feel sorry for the bloke, he was sold a lemon when he chose to come to us. I think he is still good enough to play AFL but unfortunately, we completely misread the way the game was heading when we brought him in along with Taranto whilst already having Prestia. You just can't carry more than one one-dimensional inside mid with no outside game at all. Crows and Pies were motioned as possible suitors.
I'd say if someone was interested, we'd happily pay a fair chunk of his wage for a pick in the 30s in return?
Is there any side that would play him at half back? I'm not sure he's got the quality distribution of a hodge or parker. The game has completely moved away from the type of player Hopper is. That’s what I mean, his worth will go down because no one will pay his current $$$Wanting big money?
Who will pay more than he is currently on?
The money won't go up and Tigers likely will need to chip in and cover a portion ongoing as others have suggested.
Was thinking the same earlier myself actually. If he came free with significant salary paid, i could see the Dogs having a look. Likely we won't have Libba and Treloar next year and we need experience into the side, especially through the middle.
Did alright with Carlton's GWS discard (Kennedy) so why not try with the Tigers?
