For those who seen it, what was the reasoning behind him refering to "you"

It was you do this, you go there, you this and you that.

As a TV viewer i was confussed.

If i was a Geelong assistant back in the box watching it, i would have had no idea at all on individual player instruction.

Was he just being lazy, or was it a clever ploy?

And i thought it was an excelent address, seems to really know his stuff:thumbsu:

I actually thought at the time that it was a clever ploy. He has always spoken well and hopefully the Burgers keep winning for his sake.

Yeah I thought he was playing games.

Was a good address.

When he said "you" he was actually looking directly at the player concerned to praise or offer suggestion at an individual level. Eye to eye stuff which impressed me I must say, a bit of the good old days when a coach let you know exactly where you stood. You may recall he even actually opologised to some, one saying "oh sorry I missed you, you were good etc etc" toward the end of his address. He impressed me too but has for a while, I was pretty disappointed we didnt get to keep him at Tassie over Cresswell.

When he said "you" he was actually looking directly at the player concerned...

Yes that was obvious.

That was the point of this thread.

Was it a ploy for the Cat in the Box and his little TV?

I have said 3 times i was impressed with his address, but found it very strange to address the players in that mannor. If it wasnt intentional, then i would be pissed off. You dont address anyone in that or any similar situation as "You"

Oh well then it was all a clever ploy to confuse any Geelong people watching in on TV. So they wouldn't know who was playing a good game... That sound better?

You miss my point. For years now clubs monitor radio special commentry as the game is on to get a different perspective and relay key points to assistant coaches.

Up in the Cats box, would they have one person tuning into the opposition qtr time address on TV to get an idea what they are planing?

Makes perfect sence.

If they were (and i bet they were) then that qtr time address would have been very cryptic.

Do they even HAVE to let the cameras into the huddle though? Honestly if Rawlings was so worried that Geelong would overhear his position changes and individual player rev ups wouldn't he just say 'bugger off' to the camera crew? Still think it's just his way of demanding attention from the players. You always see the blokes staring off into space or fiddlearseing around while the coach is talking then when they hear their name they perk up and listen. Just a way to make sure they were all listening I reckon.

Yes they do. Its been part of the televised agreement for years. Some coaches do request a shorter coverage and do the tactical stuff when the light goes out. Its Rawlings first game and i reckon he was being very clever.
