Reported that he is in discussions with Melbourne amongst other Victorian clubs. Obviously at this stage it's all pretty loose but you can't help liking the idea that there could be an opportunity that he might make his way to Melbourne.

Supposing that the deal did get done, you'd have to put Melbourne square in the sights of premiership contention. I've firmly believed that we are a key defender away from being serious, along with time and experience.

What are the thoughts of other Melbourne fans? Are we a player like Lever away from gloving our first cup since 64?

Not really - he replaces a type of player we already have with a better version IMO.

Steven May would have been adding a new player.

Still very keen to get him but it still leaves a weakness of ours exposed, big bodied talls.

Given the teams we've lost to this year, I think we're more than one good player away from Premiership contention, particularly as any deal would require giving up a bit to make it happen as well.

Frost and Lever would be a good combination. You've also got Oscar McDonald coming along

The club has been following Lever for a long time - if they're this desperate to get him and he is their number one priority they obviously back themselves to turn him into a very good one on one defender

I like Lever but anyone who has seen him play knows he ain't going to stand toe to toe with Hawkins or Brown or Daniher ever in his career.

What he will do though is allow Omac or someone to be a complete negative defender and float in 3rd man up to cut off leading patterns

Have we ever had a defender stand toe to toe with Ben Brown?

the current situation is obviously very frustrating for crows fans atm. if he does leaves to u guys (all rumour atm/hypothetical), i hope the clubs can strike a fair and friendly agreement. lever was drafted with pick 14 so you would think we should get an earlier first round draft pick and a sweetener. i think anb is a good player but he is too vanilla for mine. i would love lever for tyson + 2nd rounder but it is unrealistic as tyson is contracted and a vic boy.

Lever for Tyson and a 2nd rounder? Where do we sign??? Our disposal efficiency just went up 20% and we get to keep our 1st round pick!!

ANB and our first pick would get it done. ANB is going to be a decent player.

Sign me up!!
I personally think ANB plus our 1st pick (~14?) would end up being a better deal for Adelaide than Tyson plus our 2nd in what is touted as a really shallow draft.
You know what you're getting with Tyson - effort, not overly quick, the odd goal and an above average insider but pretty poor disposal so he won't cut you up.
ANB has blossomed this year with some increased opportunity, looks really dangerous when around goal, is pretty nippy and is probably a slightly better user than Tyson.
Tyson has been a bit injury prone and ANB also 3 years younger.

Lever is pretty much the dream result for a pick 14 so you'd have to add a fair bit more to the deal. I mean otherwise they're just getting the same pick they used on him and the chances of getting another genuine A-grader with that pick are 10%.

1st from 2017 and 2nd rounder from 2018 is probably fair. ANB and Tyson types aren't too hard to find but I'd rather keep both.

I'd be disappointed to lose ANB but realistically he's our only player of any value that is a) expendable and b) could be convinced to leave (and even then this is all conjecture), unless a third club chimes in with a huge offer to another one of our players to snag them with us getting a first rounder back

How do you come up with that figure?
