I've just finished an 'interesting' debate with a couple of Eagles and non-Eagles supporters regarding my new fav' player - Jakovich. (Not my new fav' because of this weeks performance, but because due to him, I am now the proud owner of a heap of memorabilia signed by this year's squad).
Anyway, the discussion revolved mainly around whether he should retire at the end of this season. The reason on the 'yes' side was that he would be going out on a real high with his (and the team's) performance far outweighing expectations and the fact that he's proved so many people wrong. Basically, so he'd go out as a current 'star' not as a hack who played on for too long.
I don't know if I'm missing something, but personally, I think he has ALOT to offer (as we have seen) and barring any major injury, can't see any reason why retirement should enter anyone's, let alone his own, head. As one of the people who agreed with the comment was an Eagles fan, I'm interestd to hear others views.
Also, did anyone see one of the footy programme's (I think it was Sunday The Footy Show??), that kept referring to Jako as being 33-34?
On a different note, it was great to see the Sunday Times running such a fantastic piece on the AFL on page 7 this week.
