Oppo Camp James Aish (Traded to Freo 2019)

That's fair enough, but I think WHE will get the nod for his x factor forward of the ball because its clear to me that our defnse won't cut it this year so we need to score.

I hope so because he's approaching the 60 game sweet spot, but I'm starting to have serious doubts. For me I'd love a 400+ possesion season for him because of what he can do when he gets it (think Jake Lloyd at the Swans), but right now he's a long way off it because we won't play him in his best role.
That's our fault, not his.

If they don't play him in midfield then they might as well delist because it was more than apparent last season that he's not AFL standard in all other positions. Further, our midfield depth sets it up perfectly for him because he will never be tagged or given attention and he's a very bad 1v1 player at this stage. It should be a similar position to what Didak was in 2010 where he becomes a lot better on the back of a quality midfield.

Buckley has a weird obsession with players who do the 1% but what we really need is some class around the ball. If he can't see that from some of Aish's games in the second half of the season then he can't coach imo. Aish is 1/2 the athlete of WHE but he's basically a better player imo. Also does his fair share of goal scoring though not as spectacular as WHA. Both of them can put in some truly pathetic efforts in contested situations though. In theory Broomhead should be better than both imo.

cliffnotes: If Aish lines up anywhere other than midfield in our best 22 then it's time to sack the coach

That's definitely a fair assessment. But the problem Aish faces is that there are numerous players better at doing his best role than what he is. Aish needs to get better at doing the other roles. There are naturally going to be injuries, that's when he can step up like he did at the end of last season. But until then he needs to justify his place in the team in other ways.

Just finished watching the replay on Fox.........he had a really good last quarter.

He hasn't earnt the right to play on ball...........he might just have to bide his time in defence now that Sinclair is not there.

I say WHE can play at HFF and Aish at HBF.

So IF Aish does not live up to Expectations you would put him on the Trade Table.

Aish showed great Signs late last season and his last qtr Yesterday was Promising

Then how doe she Earn to get on-ball by playing Down Back?

I agree that he is might need to add a bit of Versatility to his game as at the Moment he has some Good Players ahead of him he get Midfield Time

His Last Qtr was Really Good and Hope it Builds his Confidence for Next Week and he can keep Building from now

He isn't good enough at the moment to displace anyone on ball..........it's that simple Dave.

It doesn't mean he will not make it. As they say Dave the season is a marathon not a sprint.

When you have Adams,Treloar and Pendles there. It be a Hard Task for anyone not just Aish

He had a decent first and 4th quarter went quiet in between but given his ToG was only 67% that may explain his absence as he literally was not on the field for a quarter and a half.

He does go missing and he has to improve in that area...........ability only takes you so far.........being consistent is so much harder.

Interesting year coming up for him.

Add to that Degoey Wells (when fit) Sidebum Crisp Varcoe etcetc

Well I Reckon/Hope see Aish going Past Crisp and Varcoe by seasons End and I have him Ahead of Blair

if aish was on the pine a lot in the 2nd and 3rd, very hard to use the ball and be effective.
see what happens next game if plays with a lot more minutes, before saying he will not
be in the round one team

If anyone has ever played conpetitive sport they'll understand the Aish predicament. I think he's got a lot going for him.. its the team dynamics that may see him not playing to his potential. Perhaps he'd like more responsibility. Players do clash in a team.. it's just a matter of finding where he's at.. and that involves giving him more responsibility.

if he lift and keep his intensity though the whole game he will be best 22.

and That Hopefully what we see with Spots to be Decided for RD 1 give players to Play with Higher Intensity.

Its this. There's players ahead of him so he needs to step up to force them out or perform better in peripheral roles. I don't see how that's the coaching group's fault with his form supremely average ATM. No need to delist he just needs to work harder.

Who said he not working Hard? He is lot move Involved in Games then he was Early Last Season.

Though when we Traded Aish in. Did we need to IF we already had quite a Few Similar Position Players?

Me. His numbers are average for someone of his ability. Guys that work hard enough are involved consistently throughout games, IMO, and he isn't currently ala WHE. You could learn a lot from the concept of tough love.

We were right to trade him in, we won't be trading him out and he needs to do more. Its really that simple.

So you think Aish could be a Lazy Player who just lives off his Potential?

If he's not in the seniors round 1, could be as simple as there are 22 players ahead of him all things considered

Then that would not be a Great Sign. Though Grundy did not Play RD 1 but seasons end he is 1 of the Best Rucks in the AFL:thumbsu:
