Will be play for you guys tomorrow?

Is he on the outer at Adelaide? If he doesnt have a good one this weekend, will he be in line to be dropped?

Sorry for all the Q's?

Hmmm...well after having a look at you post on the regional board http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=161374

I'd say JB is in the Crows line up for this week. With Torney and Burton injured and Massie going nowhere he's safe for the minute IMO.

With Thommo and Goody in this week he'll need to make the most of his game time. Maybe Craig will go by the old Blighty rule of giving players 3 - 4 weeks to prove themselves. If so James may be given another week or 2 to get it together.

thats what i think too (this year may be his last on an AFL list)

replace may with will i reckon

cant understand why he was re-contracted really, does make much sense for a guy whos a 25ish flanker, that cant string together more than 10 games each yr.

yep, ladhams first on the old chopping block closely followed by begs. Chuck in a couple of others and it wouldnt hurt too….

Begley didnt played well in our first game but is IMO in our best 22 and will get another game this week. I hope he can produce some much better form this week and for the remainder of the season.

Unless he has a particularly poor season or has a major injury, there are 10 guys in front of him to be delisted.

Plenty to go before those two.

he has got some work to do to keep his name of the list for next season

time to name names.......

both ladhams and begs are no longer youngsters and cant play in the middle. At the start of the yr i'd say shirley and skipworth may be in front of them for the chop, but they look safe now.

I wouldn't say they were safe OJ, there's a lot of bottles to spin yet. ;)

At round 2 what makes Skipworth and Shirley safe.

The fact that they can play in the middle, while the other two cant. That ladhams and begs have had the whole preseason to impress NC and obviously havent. Also, shirely has the tagging role, which there seems to be little to no competition for, so he looks safe. Skipworth despite hes flaws is steadily improving. But the most important thing is NC has obviously backed them, and they are willing to put in the hard yards, unlike they other flashy two.

Are you going to name the ones to go before them, or is skipworth and shirely the one you think will go??

Someone else who should be in danger is doughty, but he seems to get a good run with the coaches.

OK, just off the top of my head without even looking at the list. Shirley, Skipworth, Schuback, Smith, Jericho, Bock maybe Bode, Massie, and anyone else whos been on the list for 3 years or more without putting themselves in contention for current selection.
Please wait while I put my helmet and flack jacket on.

Mate, give Jericho a chance. He played well before he should have last year. If the coaching panel can instill some hardness and confidence into this kid he could be the goods He is one of the very few at the club, with genuine speed, something we lack in lumps.

No I still have both in front of them.

Skipworth
Shirley
Massie
Smith
Bode
Doughty
Schuback
S.Stevens
Bock

Add the vacancy left by Clarke when he retires at the seasons end and there are ten vacancies ahead of either IMO.

Yes I forgot S.Stevens and Clarke. Reckon Andrews can go as well.

Re Jericho: I hear you rooboy, but mark my words he will not play decent football for Adelaide this year. Hes never even looked like playing decent football. Compare him to VB for instance. You can just tell VB has got the goods. I have seen no signs from young master Luke.

This is you personal opinion, not looking at how NC is favouring atm.

looking at yours, schuback would be very stiff, same with bock, skipworth and smith, all the others can go though. I figure that if you're about 25ish and havent established your self, you will probably never make it.

Being realistic, I think five will go, with the 25ish ones who cant play in the middle to go first

Clarke
Massie
Begley
Ladhams
S. Stevens

maybe M stevens too if he doesnt hold up.

Doughty deserves to be in there, but he seems to get a golden run.

Skipworth and Shirley arent long term options if we want success though. I think you know that i would have no prob getting rid of all that dead wood over two yrs, but those five are most realistic at this stage.

i think he has something to work with, esp pace. Obviously isnt an instant star, but atm is soft and lacking skills. Developing his body may help his attack on the ball, and a preseason of skills work wouldnt go astray.

He needs to become a midfielder not a welsh type forward that he seems to have in mind. I agree though if his attack on the ball doesnt improve get rid of him, bout time we get rid of some of the softer types, have way too many. Improve or on your way. Wont be delisted for at least two yrs, have to worry about 25yrs olds doing nothing first, not the 20yr olds.

I'm not too worked up about the whole age thing. At 25 a player could still play at least 150 more games for the club. I'll have a 25 year old late developer any day over a 20 year old with no potential. Anyhow just my opinion, not really worth anyone getting too excited.
As for all of Jericho's pace, he may well have it on the athletics track but I saw Stuart Dew run amay from him way too many times to believe hes a fast footballer.

Considering Jericho has only played one year of AFL have you listened to yourself and how uninformed your comments and comparisons are

and exactly how many games have you seen Van Berlo play to come up with your conclusions?

It looks like Jimmy had a double wish granted last night - According to the Advertiser this morning Begley played for Sturt and they beat Ports by 6 points - double d'oh!

Gee thanks for your valuable input. Do you actually have something to add to the conversation or do you just want to have a crack at me for having an opinion. If I'm so bloody wrong about Van Berlo, why is everyone else so keen to see him play AFL. I would hardly say I'm the only person on this board that rates VB over Jericho at the moment. Maybe its not me thats uninformed. :p

An informed opinion I value greatly even if it differs from my views.

Again - how many games have you seen Van Berlo play? or is your opinion generated from this board - if its from this board then your right Iam having a crack.

I'll give my opinion when I have actually seen the guy kick a ball in anger

Similarly on Smith who gets a fair belting on this board yet I haven't seen him play so how can I express an informed opinion

I am trying to avoid listing my 2005 delistings until at least round 11 but I think we will have 6 delistings and 2 retirments at the end of this year. I would expect Hinge ( definite ), and hopefully another rookie to be elevated. This would then give us 5 picks in the main draft and 1 in Pre season draft.
